2 Thursday, 17 th October 2013 Flight to Poland Finally the day has arrived, when the Comenius Group is leaving to Poland. All the group members went to the airport by train. We arrived at half past 8 at the entrance of our airport in Stuttgart. There we took some pictures and then went to the check-in.

3 After some time everybody was ready to go to the security. We were all joking around who is going to get a closer look by a security man. When we all passed the Security the students had some free time to go duty free shopping or drink something. We met at our gate at 10:10 for boarding. The flight was exciting especially for our two girls who flew the first time.

4 Pia When we arrived in Krakau a driver picked us up and drove us to the Gjmnazium NR. 6 in Myslowice. Everybody was so excited when we arrived at the school. Our exchange students were already waiting for us and we were already going crazy for meeting them the first time. After that we went to our new homes for the next week. Then we had a lot of time to get to know each other. In the afternoon my exchange student and I met with two other girls and we talked and talked and talked. It was a very exciting first day in Poland. PIA KINZLER

5 Friday, 18 th October 2013 This documentary is about Friday, the second day in Myslowice. Together with our exchange students we went to school at 11 o`clock and visited different lessons. We didn`t go on a trip or something else because all the other students arrived on Friday. The Polish school is a bit different than our school in Germany. At our school we have classrooms for every own class, but in Poland they have different classrooms for the subjects. So the students are in another room every time. And the teachers aren`t very strict. If a student took out his mobile phone, nobody would say something to him or her. Besides that, in middle of the lesson, the teacher took out his sandwich and ate. But it could be a short break because a lot of students stood up and came to my table to ask questions. After that there was a big break. And it was really strange for me, that they don t have a schoolyard to spend the

6 break outside. They stay in the school building during the break. So our German delegation went through the building and everybody turned his head around to look at us. In these moments I had a strange feeling. Around 13 o`clock my exchange student and me went back home and we ate lunch. From Germany I brought some typical food and so I cooked with my family. We made Schupfnudeln mit Sauerkraut und Speck. And it smelled really good. Sometimes it was difficult to do something that our exchange students and we know. So we made some bracelets with different colors or we played with the dogs. But we often played some games. For example UNO or Mensch ärgere dich nicht. In Poland they have other names but I forgot them. In the evening two other Polish girls and Franziska came to eat dinner with us. The Polish people love to eat sausages and mushrooms. Together we had a lot of fun and also played some games. We talked in English every time or used our hands if we didn`t know what they meant.

7 One part of the Polish hospitality is serving food. And so we ate a lot, but that was very friendly. All the time they asked: Are you hungry? If you said yes, you got something to eat. If you said no, you also got something to eat. But it was a very nice time and we met a lot of very friendly people. And a lot of new facebook friends. So I would like to come back again! Thank you THERESA GUTKNECHT Saturday, 19 th October 2013 This day was the first day to meet the students of the other delegations. First the headmaster of the Polish school gave us a warm Welcome. After his short speech each country presented their school. It was very interesting how the other school systems look like and the buildings. But I think there aren t so many differences between the schools.

8 The presentations were very nice. Poland and Italy even brought some videos. They were funny and interesting. Only one boy from Italy with his two teachers came to the meeting. He was a little bit shy, maybe he was young, too. So we had to talk a lot with him. Seven students and three teachers from the Spanish delegation joined us. They were the biggest and oldest group. Another group came from Turkey: four students and three teachers.

9 After the presentations we got a short break. Then we entered the exhibition: we looked at the posters and logos each country brought to the Polish school. Every school was asked to prepare a poster about the other delegations. It was pretty funny to see what the other countries think about Germany. For example we only eat meat and we are very clean. Afterwards we voted which Logo is the best. The winner was Italy. Which is a nice logo and I think very difficult to draw. Then we sang some famous songs of each country. All the students sang the songs together to support the singers in the front.

10 Some Polish girls who have a beautiful voice sang songs in a wonderful concert. We also heard the choir and a band. We also sang the song Heal the world by Michael Jackson which was very cool because the whole Comenius group sang the song. The Polish school had a big band that has got a lot of instruments so it was much more enjoyable.

11 Then the disco started and everybody went crazy and danced with everybody. It was very nice because we got to know many people. Thank you for that first awesome day LUISA FERBER Monday, 21 st October First we met at school. There we were waiting for the bus. The bus picked us up, drove us to Cracow and dropped us off at a cathedral. The name of the cathedral is "Wawel Cathedral". We inspected the inside of it, with an audio guide that gave us a lot of information about the history and the objects inside.

12 When we were finished with the tour through the cathedral we could enter the top and there we had a beautiful view all over the city. There was a bell and when you touch it all your dreams will come true. The bus brought us to another sight close to Krakau.

13 The "Wieliczka Salt Mine": Before we had entrance inside the salt mine, we had a little break at the place of Wieliczka to shop souvenirs or eat and drink something. Before the tour started they gave us a headset again, but this time the guide was live and was with us in the salt mine. We had a long way through the mine. We saw figures of people, which should explain how they worked there since the 13th century. After the tour, we had lunch in the restaurant of the mine. It was a salt chamber, too. At the end, we were lifted up by an elevator. It was very fast and tiny and took us almost 330 metres up in seconds.

14 Again we went to the bus and it drove us to the market place of Krakau. There we had free time for an hour. After the free time we visited a museum "Podziemia Rynku". It s about the middle age in Poland and the history of Cracow. When we left the museum it was already dark and there was music all over the place. The bus collected and drove us back to school. Our host families waited already there. FRANZISKA HERB Tuesday, 22 nd October, 2013 At 9:00 o clock we presented our role-play at school and after that the other delegations also presented their role-play about their typical national characteristics.

15 It was really funny! Then we went to the history class room and the history teacher told us some facts about Auschwitz. At 14 o clock we had lunch at a restaurant. After lunch we went on a trip to Auschwitz. There we had a guide who told us a lot about it. A lot of Jewish people were killed there.

16 Auschwitz and Birkenau are two separate concentration camps. Both are five drive minutes away from each other. At five o clock we also visited Birkenau. From the top of the house we had a view over the whole concentration camp. We saw some,,houses and some wake towers which you can see every 5 meters. The afternoon was really sad. 17 Wednesday, 23 rd October 2013 On Wednesday, we got picked up at the school and then we drove to the city hall of Myslowice. There we got to get to know the mayor. He was a very nice man who promised that he is going to build a new gym for the school. After the meeting with the mayor we all got a CD from Myslowice with songs of regional rock bands. After that we all went to the city center of Myslowice. We took some pictures and the teachers had some time to go shopping. Then we went to a beautiful cave. There we had a guided tour and we even got some helmets. In this cave we saw a special kind of spider that was inhabited there.

18 After that we went to a castle which was very awesome and stunning. We had an amazing view over the landscape of Poland. The castle was restored by a rich guy from Poland. They had some old swords and furniture.

19 At lunch time we made a campfire and grilled some sausages and some bread. It was very funny, because all the students of all nations sat together and ate a lot. Then we drove back to the school went back to our hosts. Before we had to go to the disco (Farewell Party) we all got ready. Then we went to the school and it was party time. We danced a lot, but then it was time to get our certificates. We were all happy and sad at the same time, because it was our last day in Poland. LUISA FERBER, PIA KINZLER

20 Friday, 24 th October: Leaving Poland The day when the German Comenius group is leaving Poland has arrived. The German students had to be at the school at 9 o clock and the teachers got picked up at their hotel at 8:45. Leaving our hosts wasn t easy for us and everybody cried. Some parents said goodbye to us at school and some drove us to the airport. We arrived at the airport a little bit too early, so the check-in wasn t available yet. So the students decided to go a little bit shopping and the teachers had some time, too. After half an hour our check-in was finally available, so we didn t have to carry our bags with us all the time. When we finished the check in we went to the security line and then had some free time for duty free shopping.

21 The airport in Cracow is very small, so we sat in the wifi zone and relaxed. At 12 o clock was the boarding time so we went back to our teachers and got into the waiting line. The flight was exciting just like the flight to Cracow. At we arrived in Stuttgart and saw our families again. We were glad to see them, but nobody would like to miss our adventure in Poland. If we could go we would fly back with the next plane But school must go on PIA KINZLER
