2 SOCIAL EVENTS SOCIAL ACTIVITIES Students will enjoy and take advantage of the activities planned for them. A combination of leisure and didactic activities will take place during their experience in the UK. All the following activities will take place after the lessons from Monday to Friday. SPORTS AND LEISURE: bowling, laser quest, cinema, swimming (Slide and Wave Machine) and indoor Football. Hi. Alongside our English courses, we also offer opportunities to mix socially with other students, such as in our weekly Conversation Club, which takes place at a local pub and offers students the chance to speak in English in a relaxed and informal environment. The Manchester City Museum Experience and The Manchester United Museum As well as this, we offer a Friday night social group and a weekly film club at the school. 3 UNDER-18 COURSE Students will attend a special closed group for 4 hours of lessons every day. All classes will have a MAXIMUM of 8 students and all our teachers are experienced and qualified. Britannia s aim is to give the students the greatest experience whilst learning their new language. academic management In your lessons, you will: Practise and improve your grammar skills. Practise your reading and listening skills. Have lots of chances to practise and developing your writing skills. Have plenty of chances to speak and share opinions with your classmates. Improve your confidence when speaking. Take part in question and answer sessions with your teacher on a variety of topics. Have lots of chances to discuss issues with your classmates. Have lots of chances to learn new vocabulary as you speak. All the classes have a MAXIMUM of 8 students and all our teachers are experienced and qualified. Richard School Manager Gary Teacher and Assistant Manager Teachers at Britannia are committed to giving you the best learning experience that they can, focusing on your needs to maximise your development. Our teachers are CELTA or Trinity TESOL qualified or have international English teaching experience, having taught in a range TUTOR Students will be monitored and taken care of before and after lessons. The number of tutors will depend on the number of students in the group. We will allocate one tutor for every 8 students to ensure that students are well cared for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The tutor will stay at the same hotel taking care of the students. The person in charge of the students will normally speak more than one language to be able to help students with language difficulties when needed. He will be available 24 hours by phone in cases of emergency. The tutor will be a qualified adult with a full criminal records check, and will have passed a test at Britannia to ensure that they are of high quality. of countries including Mexico, Argentina, Spain, Italy or Poland. 4 Classrooms Our Facilities Students will stay in a host family. Breakfast and dinner will be provided and served in the house, while lunch will be provided at a location dependant on the day s planned activities. Accommodation Host Family Hall/Reception Students will have a double room with a maximum of 3 other students in the house. Students will be monitored by their tutor at all times. The families will pick them up to/from the school every day. Airport Transfer Students will be met by a member of staff from Britannia on their arrival. They will be driven from the airport to the house (on their first day) and from the house to the airport (on their last day) at a time previously arranged. All transfer costs will be include on the price. On the arrival they will have a little of Manchester and its culture explained to them. 5 Welcome Pack Free Internet Access Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 8.30 pm The school offers free Wi-Fi and a Computer room for the personal use of the students. Free Tea at the school Students are able to help themselves to tea during break-time, and before of after lessons. Free UK SIM card A free SIM card will be provided. The students will be formed how to top-up their phones. Certificate at the end of the course An attendance certificate will be provided on the last day of the class, confirming the each student s level and the number of attended hours.
