2 2 What hospitals can I use? The Freedom Elite hospital list offers access to a comprehensive range of private hospitals throughout the United Kingdom (UK) to all our members. It includes all of the hospitals in the UK s largest hospital groups, such as BMI Healthcare, Nuffield Health, Spire Healthcare and Ramsay Health Care, together with a number of select local providers such as Aspen Healthcare and CircleHealth. It also includes a number of regional independent hospitals. There is a small number of hospitals based in central London that will only be covered if your policy has the London Plus hospital list extension. These hospitals are shown on page 11. If your policy includes the London Plus hospital list extension, it will be shown on your certificate. We regularly review the services provided and the charges made by the hospitals on our list and so hospitals may be added to or deleted from the list from time to time. You should check this list whenever you need treatment to make sure the hospital you want to use is included. Please note that we do not provide any guarantee of the standard of care provided to patients, which is subject to a direct contract between the patient and the provider. Date of issue: January 2017 National Health Service (NHS) hospitals In addition to the hospitals included in the Freedom Elite hospital list, you may also receive treatment in any NHS hospital. Unless otherwise stated, all NHS hospitals are included as part of the Freedom Elite hospital list. Any NHS hospitals that are only covered under the London Plus hospital list extension will be specifically shown. You may be treated as a private patient in a dedicated NHS private patient unit or in an NHS pay bed. However, please be aware that an NHS pay bed accommodation may not differ from standard NHS accommodation and their availability is at the discretion of the hospital. Alternatively, if you choose to be treated as an NHS patient, we will pay you the benefit specified in your policy documents for each day or night spent in an NHS hospital, as an NHS patient, for treatment that is covered by the policy. Psychiatric hospitals Cover for Psychiatric care is not included as standard under Freedom Elite and you can only claim for psychiatric treatment if your policy includes the appropriate cover. If your policy includes cover for Psychiatric care and you require outpatient, inpatient or daypatient treatment, you must contact the claims helpline before proceeding with treatment and, if we accept your claim, we will approve the required hospital at that time. HCA International All HCA International facilities, both inside and outside of London, are only covered in full if you have the London Plus hospital list extension. This includes HCA International hospitals, diagnostic centres, outpatient clinics and specialist treatment centres.
