1 OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIP RESOURCES The Tuck Financial Aid Office works very closely with all students to help them finance their education. For those interested in scholarship opportunities above and beyond Tuck s scholarship program, we recommend that you begin your research as early as possible. Below is information that we have gathered from previous students and through our own web research. Please note that Tuck does not endorse the following websites. We recommend that you evaluate these sites carefully. General Sites for US Citizens AIGC Fellowship American Indian Graduate Center Graduate fellowship available for American Indian and Alaska Native students from federally recognized US tribes pursuing graduate or professional degree. In addition to their own scholarships, they also offer extensive information about other available scholarship resources. Career Advancement Scholarship Business and Professional Women Foundation Awarded to disadvantaged women who want to further their education. Must be 25 years of age. Career Development Grants - American Association of University Women Awarded to women who hold a bachelor s degree and are preparing to advance their career, change careers, or re-enter the work force. Special consideration is given to AAUW members, women of color, and women pursuing their first advanced degree. Awards range from $2,000 to $12, College Scholarship Program Hispanic Scholarship Fund The College Scholarship Program is available on a competitive basis to community college, fouryear college, and graduate students of Hispanic heritage. US citizen or legal permanent resident. Daniel B. Goldberg Scholarship - Government Finance Officers Association The Daniel B. Goldberg Scholarship awarded to a graduate student who is enrolled in full-time master s study preparing for a career in state and local government finance. Citizen or permanent resident of US or Canada. George A Nielsen Public Investor Scholarship - Government Finance Officers Association The Public Investor Scholarship of $5,000 is awarded to an employee of a local government or other public entity who is enrolled or plans to enroll in a graduate program in public administration, finance, business administration, or related field with career interests in the efficient and productive investment of public funds. Citizen or permanent resident of US or Canada. 1

2 Graduate Research Fellowship Awards National Science Foundation The Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) invests in graduate education for a cadre of diverse individuals who demonstrate their potential to successfully complete graduate degree programs in disciplines relevant to the mission of the National Science Foundation. This program seeks to ensure the vitality of the human resource base of science, mathematics, and engineering in the US and to reinforce its diversity. International Fellowships American Association of University Women International fellowships are awarded to women at graduate and postgraduate level who are not US citizens or permanent residents. Master s/professional Fellowship $18, Intel Foundation Scholarship The National Consortium for Graduate Degrees The Intel Foundation collaborates with the National Consortium for Graduate Degrees to support graduate education for underrepresented minorities at the master s level. MBA Scholarship Program National Black MBA Association, Inc. Awarded to outstanding minority students pursuing graduate management/business degrees, while demonstrating strong leadership abilities, and commitment to their communities, ranging from $2,500 to $15, Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship - Government Finance Officers Association The Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship of $5,000 is awarded to an upper-division graduate student of public administration, (governmental) accounting, finance, political science, economics, or business administration (with a specific focus on government or nonprofit management). The purpose is to recognize outstanding performance by minority students preparing for careers in state and local government finance. Citizen or permanent resident of US or Canada. National Federation of the Blind Scholarship National Federation of the Blind The federation grants thirty scholarships annually to legally blind persons in higher education ranging in value from $3,000 to $12, National Society of Hispanic MBAs Scholarship Program National Society of Hispanic MBAs The meritorious scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis to graduate students seeking a Masters in Business Administration of Hispanic background. Awards range from $2,500 to $5,000. US citizen or legal permanent resident. New Hampshire Charitable Foundation The foundation administers over 250 separate funds, established by individuals, families, organizations and business to support New Hampshire students. 2

3 Point Foundation The National LGBT Scholarship Fund The Point Foundation provides financial support through multi-year scholarships, leadership training, mentoring and hope to LGBT students who are marginalized because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. Public Employee Retirement Research and Administration Scholarship - Government Finance Officers Association This scholarship of $4,000 is available for award to a graduate student in public administration, finance, business administration, or social sciences. The purpose is to support the studies of a graduate student preparing for a career in the field of public-sector retirement benefits. Citizen or permanent resident of US or Canada. Richard Metzler Scholarship Awards Association of Management Consulting Firms The scholarships reinforce the mission and vision of AMCF and acknowledge the importance of the role that today s students will play tomorrow. We are pleased to support and celebrate successful demonstrations that emphasize AMCF s priorities of leadership, communication, ethics, and dedication. Selected Professions Fellowships American Association of University Women Awarded to women of color, who intend to pursue full-time MBA. Awards range from $5,000 to $12,000. US citizen or legal permanent resident. Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation The program seeks to recruit talented students in academic programs relevant to international affairs, political and economic analysis, administration, management, and science policy. The goal is to attract outstanding students from all ethnic, racial and social backgrounds, who have an interest in pursuing a Foreign Service career in the U.S. Department of State. 3

4 GENERAL SITES FOR INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS & LOANS Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) In addition to providing research grants to U.S. faculty & scholars, Fulbright runs scholarship programs for international students in over 140 countries, for any field of graduate study. Program administration is through the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), but students should apply through the Fulbright Commission in their country or through a local U.S. Embassy. Funding is through the U.S. Department of State and covers partial tuition, monthly stipend and materials allowance, and insurance. Students must leave the U.S. for a minimum of two years after graduation, preferably returning to their home country East-West Center The East-West Center offers a wide variety of both short- and long-term programs for individuals. Academic scholarships and fellowships as well as educational exchange and professional development programs are available. Institute of International Education Information page on corporate and foundation programs, e.g., Ford Foundation; Regional Program of Graduate Fellowships in the Social Sciences, supported by the Ford, Hewlett, and MacArthur foundations, and assists social scientists from Mexico and Central America to complete graduate study in the country of their choice and return to their home country. International Fellowship Program Support for up to three years of formal graduate-level study leading to a masters or doctoral degree. Fellows are selected from countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Russia. Highly competitive program, providing grants in three main areas: Asset Building and Community Development Education, Media, Arts and Culture Peace and Social Justice International Research and Exchanges Board IREX administers various fellowships for non-degree study, one-year and two-year graduate study in the U.S. for foreign nationals within 11 areas of study: Business Administration, Economics, Education, Environmental Management, International Affairs, Journalism and Mass Communication, Law, Library and Information Science, Public Administration, Public Health and Public Policy. Host university must make application to receive scholars. Funding covers partial tuition, monthly stipend, materials allowance, insurance, J-1 visa support, test fees (for finalists). International Student Loan International Student Loan Program Due to the turmoil in the financial markets, this loan has been temporarily suspended. We will post any updated information as we receive it. Innovative program to increase the opportunities 4

5 for international students who wish to study at approved colleges and universities. Financing up to total cost of education in US dollars. Students are required to have a US citizen as co-signer. Organization of American States Grants interest-free loans to competent persons from Latin American and Caribbean countries to help them finance their higher education studies. Recipients must return to their respective home countries in Latin America or the Caribbean. Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans Awards up to 30 fellowships for 2-year graduate programs in any subject $20,000 stipend plus ½ tuition Candidate must have U.S. green card, be a naturalized citizen, or child of two naturalized citizen parents. Rotary Clubs International The Rotary Clubs International provides hundreds of small fellowships and grants in many areas: finance, banking, venture capital. Fellows are required to be ambassadors for the Rotary Club in their area. Funding is generally for one year. Applications are made to the Rotary Club in one s country. FANTEL Scholarships for Higher Education LASPAU Academic and Professional Programs for the Americas This scholarship provides academic and professional opportunities to Salvadoran citizens who show outstanding ability in their areas of academic specialization. The scholarship program gives priority to studies in the fields of science and technology, but also funds studies in social sciences, humanities, and the arts. BELGIUM Belgian American Educational Foundation Conditional Grants Awards for tuition and living expenses for students pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree, who have been accepted to an approved U.S. university. For list of schools, see: Karel Vinck Award Award of 25,000 Euros for one fellowship for a Belgian engineer attending a U.S. MBA program. Apply through the Belgian American Educaiotnal Foundation BRAZIL Fundaçaõ Estudar Funds scholarships for MBA programs outside Brazil, with partner schools only. Instituto Ling The Project START offers partial scholarships to Brazilian MBA students attending full-time MBA programs in the United States and Europe. This program will benefit professionals in early 5

6 career, demonstrating leadership, entrepreneurship, academic excellence and identification with the values of the Instituto Ling. CANADA *There are also further scholarships available to Canadian students listed under the US section. Canadian Scholarships Lists hundreds of scholarships for Canadian citizens at all levels of education and in all fields. J. Armand Bombardier International Fellowship 25 fellowships awarded per year in an amount of C$10,000 (non renewable) to Canadian citizens or permanent residents with university degree (or in final year), excellent academics. Program length must be a minimum of one year CHILE Chilean Government: Agencia de Cooperación Internacional (ACGI) Site offers a number of scholarships world-wide: President of the Republic Scholarship for postgraduate studies or specialization courses in any area, anywhere, covering travel and tuition. Instituto Chileno Norteamericano, various scholarships offered for pre- and post-graduate studies. Credito CORFU line of credit, obtained through banks to cover expenses for graduate study abroad. COLOMBIA Colfuturo Scholarship Program Colfuturo This scholarship allows Colombian students into a world undergoing globalization through undergraduate and graduate educational programs. Award is a maximum of $25,000. Eligible students must be admitted to high quality graduate. Students must return to Colombia within one year of finishing their programs in order to qualify for a scholarship comprising a 50% waiver of the loan. EGYPT Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program The OCI Foundation provides scholarships for extraordinary Egyptian graduate students interested in studying at prestigious universities in the United States or Europe in fields that will enhance the economic prosperity of Egypt. FRANCE BRED Grand Ze BRED Bred is the most important regional bank of the Group Banque Populaire and offers student loans to French students. GERMANY Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) 6

7 The DAAD is the national information centre for Germans interested in study programs and funding opportunities abroad. Program to further academic qualifications of outstanding German students, interns and student trainees, (post) graduates, young academics and researchers. Candidates chosen by independent academic selection committees, to complete study or research stays at the best universities around the world by awarding scholarships and grants. HUNGRY The Hungarian American Enterprise Scholarship Fund The Hungarian-American Enterprise Scholarship Fund s (HAESF) objective is to promote free enterprise and development in Hungary and to continue to strengthen ties between the United States and Hungary by creating opportunities for accomplished Hungarians and those of great promise to gain professional experience in the United States, thereby enhancing their contribution to Hungarian society. MEXICO CONACyT Government funded scholarships. Requires that student go back to Mexico upon graduation. FIDERH Banco de Mexico The Fund for Development of Human Resources is a federal trust managed by the Central Ban of Mexico which for over 40 years has been financing graduate studies. They offer loans to Mexican students to finance their graduate studies either in Mexico or abroad. FUNED FUNED s mission is To help Mexican young college graduates, develop their potential to become the leaders of a better tomorrow for their Country. NEW ZEALAND Fulbright-Platinum Triangle Scholarship Award in Entrepreneurship Award up to $100,000 (plus travel) for study in U.S. New Zealand citizens, entrepreneurs, holding university degree, with acceptance letter to host university 2006-preference to those with interest in IT, Creative Technologies 2007 preference to those with interest in Biotechnology and Food Technology PERU Fulbright Scholarships Banco de Credito Peru Loan program For graduate studies outside Peru. Will finance up to total cost of program, up to 48 months total, plus room & board (to $20,000). Company or individual guarantor required. Minimal payments and preferred interest rate. 7

8 SPAIN Fundacion Rafael del Pino This Spanish private nonprofit institution has the general goals of developing, protecting, and supporting educational, cultural, and social cooperation with activities that promote economic development. The foundation provides scholarships for Spanish students interested in studying the areas of business, economics, law, or competitive market analysis. TALENTIA Postgraduate Scholarship Program TALENTIA scholarships are offered to the Spanish students born or resident in the region of Andalusia applying for postgraduate programs at the major universities around the world. SWEDEN The Swedish Government provides loans and grants for Swedish students studying abroad: Must be admitted for full-time study in the institution. Program minimum length is 13 weeks. Grant amount is approx. $100 per week; loans are provided to cover tuition, travel, insurance and other costs; maximum loan is approx. $250 per week UNITED KINGDOM NatWest MBA Loans Must be accepted in accredited program; have 5 years work experience; must contribute at least 20% of total fees personally. Sainsbury Management Fellows Society For engineers seeking MBA degree, funds one year of study. Career Development Loans Loans for any full-time, part-time or distance learning course as long as it is vocational (vocational means it gives you the skills needed for an occupation, trade or profession) and lasts no longer than two years plus up to one year s practical experience if this is part of the course 8
