Critical Language Scholarship Program Sponsor: U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Deadline: set to launch in October deadline last year was in November Description: Part of a U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages. Participants are expected to continue their language study beyond the scholarship period, and later apply their critical language skills in their future professional careers. Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowships Deadline: October 30, 2015 Description: Supports graduate students working towards the PhD degree in the applied physical, biological, and engineering sciences. NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Deadline: October 26 October 30th depending on discipline Description: Recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported disciplines who are pursuing research-based master s and doctoral degrees at accredited US institutions. and Social Sciences Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans Deadline: November 1, 2015 Description: Fellows will receive tuition and stipend assistance of up to $90,000 in support of graduate education in the United States. Students must be under the age of 31, in their first or second year of their graduate program, and a New American. Amelia Earhart Fellowships Sponsor: Zonta International Foundation Deadline: November 15, 2015 Description: Established in 1938 in honor of Amelia Earhart, famed pilot and Zonta club member. The $10,000 Fellowships are granted annually to women pursuing PhD degrees in aerospace-related sciences or aerospace-related engineering. Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship Deadline: November 20, 2015 Description: 3 year fellowship for doctoral students who plan to pursue a faculty position and use diversity to enhance the learning experience for students. The program aims to increase the number of civilian scientists and engineers working at DoD laboratories. National Physical Science Consortium Graduate Fellowships in Science, Engineering and Math Deadline: December 5, 2015 Description: Fellowships for graduate students in Astronomy, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Materials Science, Mathematical Sciences, Physics, and related Engineering fields. DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) Description: Prepares graduate students for science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) careers critically important to the DOE Office of Science mission, by providing graduate thesis research opportunities at DOE laboratories. The Howard Mayer Brown Fellowship Sponsor: American Musicological Society, INC Description: One fellowship is awarded annually to increase the presence of minority scholars and teachers in musicology. The fellowship will support one year of graduate work for an underrepresented student in musicology at a North American University. 5 DISSERTATION Smith Richardson Foundation World Politics and Statecraft Fellowship Deadline: October 15, 2015 Description: Grants to support PhD dissertation research on American foreign policy, international relations, international security, strategic studies, area studies and diplomatic and military history. The fellowship s objective is to support the research and writing of policy-relevant dissertations through funding of fieldwork, archival research and language training. Woodrow Wilson Foundation Dissertation Completion Fellowships in Women s Studies Deadline: October 15, 2014 Description: Enable doctoral students to complete their dissertations on research about women that crosses disciplinary, regional, or cultural boundaries. Luce Foundation Dissertation Fellowships in American Art Sponsor: American Council for Learned Societies Deadline: October 21, 2015 Description: Ten one-year fellowships will provide stipends of $25,000 to art history graduate students working on a dissertation related to the history of the visual arts in the United States.
