1 Admiralty ENC Service Electronic Charts Services You Can Trust
2 What is an ENC? Electronic Navigational Charts are official vector charts that conform to IHO Specifications and have been issued by a national hydrographic authority. ENCs are the only vector charts that may be used for primary navigation as an alternative to paper charts. When operating with ENCs, Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) can be programmed to automatically trigger alarms to warn of impending dangers and provide unrivalled benefits in terms of maritime safety, risk management, cost savings and other operational efficiencies. ENCs Made Easy The Admiralty ENC Service brings together Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC) from a wide range of official sources in a single package making the very latest ENC coverage easy to buy, easy to use and simple to manage. 100% Official ENCs The Admiralty ENC Service only includes official ENCs from official hydrographic offices so you can be sure that you are always using the very best vector chart information available. The Regulations IMO SOLAS Chapter V, Regulation 19, All ships irrespective of size shall have nautical charts and nautical publications to plan and display the ship s route for the intended voyage and to plot and monitor positions throughout the voyage; an Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) may be accepted as meeting SOLAS carriage requirements of this sub paragraph. Electronic Chart Services You Can Trust
3 Extensive ENC Coverage Global production of ENCs now has real momentum and available coverage is expanding rapidly. The Admiralty ENC Service gives you access to a fast-growing portfolio of international ENCs from countries as geographically diverse as India, the United States, South Africa, Australia and Europe. While ENC coverage continues to grow, the UKHO recommends the use of official raster data to fill gaps in coverage. Cost-Effective Many electronic chart services still require customers to purchase electronic chart coverage in large blocks that are often incompatible with standard trading patterns. This often results in the purchase of large numbers of charts that, in reality, are never used. When you subscribe to the Admiralty ENC Service, you only purchase the ENCs you require. ENCs are available on a unit by unit basis (where one unit equals a paper chart) to enable you to chose your coverage to match your routes / areas of operation. Access to ENCs is provided by special chart unlock (permit) keys, so there is no need to buy large blocks of coverage that you don t really need. An ENC Service to Meet Your Requirements International ENC coverage in a single service Weekly updates Unrivalled end-user support Includes free back-up licence.
4 Easy Access to Extra ENCs All ENCs are supplied in a compact CD box-set. You can unlock extra ENCs at any time during your licence period - enabling you to minimize the size of your ENC folio and, at the same time, remain fully equipped to deal with last-minute route changes. Updating You Can Trust Regulations relating to the use of ENCs state that ENCs should be the latest edition and must be kept fully up to date through the application of official updates. The UKHO issues the latest ENC corrections every week to ensure your vessels have fast access to all safety critical information and can navigate with confidence. Updates include all Notices to Mariners, New Editions, Replacement Charts and Temporary and Preliminary Notices, for all charts. Compatibility with Your ECDIS The Admiralty ENC Service has been developed in conjunction with the world s major ECDIS manufacturers to ensure full service compatibility. For a complete list of compatible systems please visit the UKHO s web site or contact your Admiralty Distributor. After Sales Support The UKHO offers an excellent product support service to all its customers. A detailed user guide accompanies every licence and full user support is available both via your Admiralty Distributor and direct from the UKHO Help Desk. Free Back-up Licence All Admiralty ENC Service customers benefit from a free duplicate set of chart permits for use in a separate back-up chart system to ensure maximum safety.
