5 GENERAL POLICIES SPECIFIC TO CAMP SPIRIT Camp Spirit Age Groups Camp Spirit campers will be placed in groups based on their age. We do not guarantee changes or transfers of children based on a birthday that occurs during our summer camp operational dates. The Camp Director will try to accommodate the changes based on their discretion and the camper s ability to adjust to the new camp age group. Field Trip Days Campers must wear their camp T-shirt on field trip days. If a shirt is lost an additional shirt must be purchased for $5. Since we are going out into the public with a large group of kids, we use the T-shirts as a safety net to avoid separation. Camp T-shirts will not be needed for trips to Graham Aquatic Center (GAC). Campers MUST bring lunch and wear closed toe sneakers on field trips. Campers may wear sandals on GAC field trips. There is a snack bar at the GAC and campers may purchase lunch/snacks. It is recommended to send no more than $10 per child for such purchases. What to Bring/Wear Campers MUST bring lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, bathing suit and towel for swimming daily. They MUST wear camp appropriate clothing including closed toe sneakers for safety. (Flip Flops are not permitted; parents will be called to bring closed toed shoes if camper does not have any to wear). *If campers arrive without sneakers or closed toe and heeled shoes the parents will be called to bring appropriate footwear. Campers cannot participate in activities without appropriate footwear. Campers are not allowed to wear swimsuits all day; they must bring a swim suit with them. We ask that campers dress modestly. Girls swim tops are required to have straps and tank tops must follow the 3 finger width rule. The YMCA Camp Spirit Day Camp is a Christian organization and we expect our values to be reflected in our programs. What Not to Bring DO NOT BRING anything of personal value (toys, stuffed animals, video games, ipods, MP3 players, cell phones, etc). Any electronic that is found on a camper will be confiscated and given back when the parent/guardian picks up the child. Cell phones are prohibited at camp. There is a camp phone that is available to use should you or your child need to contact one another. Campers may bring money for field trip days and ice cream truck day. Camp Spirit is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items. Supervision (One on One) Camp Spirit is not able to provide one on one supervision of any child in our program. If your child requires one on one supervision, it is the parent s responsibility to inform the Camp Director and provide that service for their child. TSS Policy Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS) are permitted to accompany children at Camp Spirit. For more information, please contact the Camp Director. Lost and Found Every day announcements will be made to inform the campers of lost and found items. Items that are not claimed will be placed in a Lost & Found box at the camp desk. The YMCA is not responsible for lost, misplaced, or stolen items. Discipline Policy To ensure the safety and well-being of your children, the following discipline policy has been established. The following rules will be enforced for inappropriate and disruptive behavior. We have zero tolerance for bullying. Level 1 Verbal and written warning (Behavior Report) to parents. Level 2 Repeat offenses; Camp Director and parents notified. Camp Director will meet with parents and camper to discuss the behavior. Level 2 offenses could include the loss of field trip(s) and/or a 2-5 day suspension from camp based on the discretion of the Camp Director. Level 3 Offenses which cause harm to themselves and/or others or include leaving camp property without an adult, warrant immediate removal from camp (length of time to be determined) and possible notification to the police. *For those campers with an IEP, a copy of the IEP must be presented to the Camp Director. 4
