In this newsletter you will find camp details including information about field trips, workshops, and special days. Drop off/pick up location Please use the front door. Please walk your child to his first activity after signing in. Tuition Due Dates 1st Half Tuition is due on Wednesday, June 8 2nd Half Tuition is due on Thursday, July 14 Schedule Changes In an effort to be as flexible as possible for our families, we are able to accommodate any changes throughout the summer months with a two week advance notice in writing. All changes must be sent via to accounts@extendedday.net or mailed to EDS, 289 Boyce Plaza Road, Pittsburgh, PA You will receive a confirmation of your change from our office. Please do not assume we have made your schedule change unless you receive a confirmation from our office. Due to staffing and material constraints, we cannot make exceptions to this policy. What to Bring Daily 1. Plastic Bag Lunch and Drink. Lunches will be refrigerated but cannot be heated. Please pack your child s lunch in a Ziploc bag or plastic grocery bag. Paper bags too often break. Please write your child s name on his or her lunch. If you have not pre-registered for the camp lunch program and would like to do so, please click here to register via Water Bottle. Please write your child s name on the bottle in permanent marker. 3. Sunscreen. Please send a spray bottle of sunscreen on your child s first day of camp. We will keep these bottles for you child throughout the summer. Please apply sunscreen to your child at home before he or she arrives at camp each day. We will reapply sunscreen after lunch if necessary. Please let us know if your child is particularly fair and requires extra sunscreen daily. If you have more than one child attending camp, please send a separate spray bottle for each child. T-Shirt Distribution We realize that many of you have field trip and/or swim T-shirts at home from past summers. Therefore, we will not bill for trip T-shirts until the day of the swim or field trip on which your child will be going. If your child does not have the appropriate shirt, or if he/she forgets to wear it, he/she will be given one and your account will be charged on the day of the trip. Cooking Classes and Food Allergies All campers will have the opportunity to take part in some simple assembly-type cooking classes (i.e., making trail mix, smores, or nachos). While we do not include any items that contain nuts or nut oils, some products may carry a nut warning on the label. (For example, plain M&M s carry a nut warning because they are made in a factory where nuts are present.) Therefore, if your child is highly allergic to nuts and cannot even have products that include a warning on the label about being manufactured in a plant where nuts are present, please let us know and your child may have an alternate snack while the other children are eating their creations. 3 Field Trips Badminton Enjoy learning a terrific picnic sport that your child will want to play often! Day: Thursday, June 16 Cost: $10 per child will appear on your statement. Only those children who are pre-registered for the workshop will attend Bring: We will eat lunch at camp on this day. Children may either bring a lunch from home or have the hot lunch provided Basketball Score more in basketball! Make more baskets and improve your hoop skills! Day: Friday, July Cost: $10 per child will appear on your statement. Only those children who are pre-registered for the workshop will attend Fun Fest Enjoy bowling, laser tag, and the Spin Zone (bumper cars)! Day: Wednesday, July 27 Cost: $2 per child will appear on your statement. Only those children who are pre-registered for the field trip will attend Bring: Includes pizza lunch and drink Fun Fore All Enjoy fast go carts, rookie go carts, bumper boats, mini gold, softplay area, and $ arcade play cards. Day: Wednesday, June 29 Cost: $26 per child will appear on your statement. Only those children who are pre-registered for the field trip will attend Bring: A completely disposable lunch and drink in a plastic grocery bag or Ziploc bag (no lunch box or thermos). Day: Thursday, July 21 Journey Into Space Children will learn about the solar system, stars and galaxies, earth, and flight through hands on exploration. Day: Thursday, July 28 Cost: $7 per child will appear on your statement. Only those children who are pre-registered for the workshop will attend Living Treasures Interactive zoo where kids can get close to and feed the animals - touch a giraffe, hug a camel, or play with the goats. Day: Tuesday, July Cost: $18 per child will appear on your statement. Only those children who are pre-registered for the field trip will attend Bring: A completely disposable lunch and drink in a plastic grocery bag or Ziploc bag (no lunch box or thermos). Please write the child s name on bag. Magic on the Run Our hands-on performance captivates all ages through the power of illusion. The kids will be the star of the show! Day: Thursday, August 4 Cost: $8 per child will appear on your statement. Only those children who are pre-registered for the workshop will attend Mask uerade Art Learn about Venetian masks while creating your own paper version complete with paint and appliqués. 5 Still More Field Trips Spinosaurus Encounter Experience a life-sized (1 ft) mechanical Spinosaurus as we journey back to the Age of Dinosaurs. Day: Thursday, July 14 Bring: We will eat lunch at camp on this day. Children may either bring a lunch from home or have the lunch provided at camp. Children must be pre-registered for the hot lunch at camp. Theater Games An Interactive theater workshop where kids will experience what it's like to be a real actor through games and improv. Day: Tuesday, June 28 Cost: $7 per child will appear on your statement. Only those children who are pre-registered for the workshop will attend Bring: We will eat lunch at camp on this day. Children may either bring a lunch from home or have the lunch provided at camp. Children must be pre-registered for the hot lunch at camp.
