7 Getting Started Identify 5S Team Training Workplace Scan Mark the area Create a material spaghetti diagram Conduct a 5-S & Safety Audit Photograph the existing condition Create a Scan Display Review Reality documentation 7
8 Seiri - Sort 8
9 Seiri - Sort Distinguish the level of need for each item. Store often-used items at the workplace, infrequently-used items away from the workplace and dispose of items that are not needed. Start in one area, and then proliferate. Discuss removal of items with persons involved. Items that cannot be removed immediately should be tagged. 9
10 Seiton Set In Order Arrange all necessary items. Every item should have a designated location and be labelled, shadowed, or colour coded Items that are used together should be kept in one place. Shared items should be centralized to eliminate excess. 10
11 Seiso - Shine Keep the work area clean continuously. Keep connectors, pipes, wires, straps, etc. in place and in good condition Floor layouts to identify responsibilities for housekeeping. A clean work area can avoid product contamination, eliminate potential health hazards relieve stress and strain. Not just to make things look good a way to see problems early and keep equipment running 11
12 Seiketsu - Standardise Develop schedules and checklists to maintain the workplace at the desired level so that problems are made obvious. Commitment and discipline toward housekeeping is essential. Continually improve the area by continuous assessment and improvement. Standardization is the state that exists when Sort, Set in Order, & Shine are fully maintained on a daily basis. 12

Purchases must be made after application approval.
