2 Raial insert ball bearings House bearing units Raial insert ball bearings IN raial insert ball bearings are reay-to-fit rolling bearings for the esign of particularly economical bearing arrangements. These robust machine elements are available in numerous esigns that iffer essentially in the outsie surface of the outer ring, the metho of location on the shaft an the sealing arrangement. Raial insert ball bearings with a spherical outer ring, fitte in housings with a concave bore, can compensate for static misalignment of the shaft. They can be relubricate if necessary an are particularly easy to fit ue to the special location methos. Operation even uner ifficult operating conitions is ensure by seals of a three-piece esign that are matche to the application. The classic areas of application for these bearings inclue the agricultural, construction an mining sectors, conveying equipment, textile, paper an wooworking machinery as well as machines for the filling, timber an packaging inustries. Housing units with cast iron housings with sheet steel housings Housing units comprise IN cast iron or sheet steel housings with a concave bore in which IN insert bearings are mounte. These units are matche to each other an are available as plummer block, flange an take-up housing units. Due to the wie range of housing esigns, the right solution can be foun for any specific application. The areas of application of the units correspon to those of the insert bearings. Cast iron housings are single-piece units that can support high loas. Sheet steel housings are two-piece units that are use where the priority is not the loa carrying capacity of the housing but the low mass of the unit. Depening on the series, IN take-up housing units have integral fixing eyes with holes, slots an guie surfaces. They can therefore be move in an axial irection or swivelle in a raial irection. Roller chain iler sprocket units Iler pulley units Roller chain iler sprocket units are guiance an return units for roller bush chains an roller chains. They can compensate for chain stretch resulting from operation an give smoother running uner high loas an spees. Iler pulley units are tensioning systems for belt rives an iler pulleys. They are suitable for V-belts, flat or roun belts, steel an hemp cables. Iler pulley units increase the wrap angle, compensate for belt stretch resulting from operation, allow shorter centre istances an reuce belt wear HR 1 Schaeffler Group Inustrial

10 Raial insert ball bearings Features Caution! Inch size esigns Corrosion-resistant raial insert ball bearings Corrotect plating vantages of the Corrotect plating Raial insert ball bearings are single row, reay-to-fit units comprising a soli outer ring, an inner ring extene on one or both sies, cages mae from plastic or sheet steel an seals of type P, R, L or T. earings with an inner ring extene on both sies unergo less tilting of the inner ring an therefore run more smoothly. The outer ring has a spherical or cylinrical outsie surface. In combination with an IN housing matche to the esign, bearings with a spherical outer ring can compensate for misalignment of the shaft; see Compensation of misalignments, page With only a few exceptions, raial insert ball bearings can be relubricate. For this purpose, they have two lubrication holes in the outer ring offset by 180. Raial insert ball bearings are particularly easy to fit an are suitable for rawn shafts of grae h6 to h9. They are locate on the shaft by means of eccentric locking collars, grub screws in the inner ring, aapter sleeves, rive slots or fit. The features of the series are presente in etail in the prouct overview on pages 1046 an Please take these into consieration. Some series with eccentric locking collar or grub screws in the inner ring are also available with inch size bore imensions, see imension tables, page 1068 to page For corrosion-resistant bearing arrangements an for applications in the foo an rink inustry, bearings are available with Corrotect plating an the suffix F125 as well as in the V esign using corrosion-resistant materials. The special IN plating Corrotect is an economical alternative to traitional forms of corrosion protection for raial insert ball bearings. The thickness of the plating is between 0,5 m an 3 m. ll-roun rust protection incluing machine surfaces on chamfers an raii Long-term prevention of rust penetration beneath seals Small bright spots are protecte against corrosion by the cathoic protection mechanism nti-corrosion protection allows a significantly longer operating life compare to unplate parts Unplate bearings an housings are fully interchangeable with the plate versions of the same esign earings an housings mae from corrosion-resistant rolling bearing steel are often no longer require. In raial insert ball bearings of variant V, the bearing rings an rolling elements are mae from corrosion-resistant, high alloy rolling bearing steel with an increase chromium an molybenum content. Corrosion-resistant raial insert ball bearings are suitable where moisture, contaminate water, salt spray mist or weakly alkaline an weakly aciic cleaning agents are present. For information on Corrotect see also section nti-corrosion protection, page HR 1 Schaeffler Group Inustrial

11 Raial insert ball bearings for high an low temperatures Raial insert ball bearings with eccentric locking collar t high temperatures, rolling bearings unergo an increase in volume that can be attribute to a change in the material microstructure. Furthermore epening on the location of the heat source there can be a significant temperature ifference between the inner an outer ring. The raial insert ball bearings have cages mae from metal or a high temperature plastic, increase raial internal clearance, lubricants with improve thermal resistance an special seals. These bearings have the suffix F164 or F101. Series GLE..-KRR- an GE..-KLL- also have an extene temperature range. These classic IN raial insert ball bearings are locate on the shaft by means of a locking collar, Figure 1. They are particularly suitable for bearing arrangements with a constant irection of rotation or, uner low spee an loa, for an alternating irection of rotation. The locking collar is preferably tightene in the irection of rotation an secure by means of a grub screw. This location metho prevents amage to the shaft an can be easily loosene again b GE..-KRR- Figure 1 Location using eccentric locking collar Sealing/lubrication Corrosion-resistant raial insert ball bearings Raial insert ball bearings for high an low temperatures Cylinrical outer ring Inch size esigns The raial insert ball bearings are fitte with P, R, L or T type seals an, with the exception of a few series, can be relubricate. In series GE..-KRR--2C, the R seals are fitte with Corrotect plate flinger shiels to protect against mechanical amage. Several series are also available in a corrosion-resistant esign. These bearings have the suffix F125. Inner rings up to = 60 mm, as well as locking collars in general, are plate with Corrotect an are thus protecte against fretting corrosion; the exception is series RLE..-NPP(-). earings for high an low temperatures have the suffix F164 or F101. In aition to the bearings with a spherical outer ring, there are also the following series with a cylinrical outer ring: RE..-NPP, RLE..-NPP, E..-KRR an E..-KLL. The series GR..-NPP--S2/V, R..-NPP-, G..-KRR--S2/V, R..-NPP, RL..-NPP have inch size bore imensions, see imension tables, page 1068 to page Schaeffler Group Inustrial HR

12 Raial insert ball bearings Raial insert ball bearings with grub screws in the inner ring In these insert bearings, the inner ring is locate on the shaft, Figure 2 by means of two grub screws offset by 120. This location metho is suitable for bearing arrangements with a constant irection of rotation or, uner low spee an loa, for an alternating irection of rotation. The grub screws are self-retaining an have a fine pitch threa with cup point for secure location of the bearings b GYE..-KRR- Figure 2 Location using grub screws in the inner ring Sealing/lubrication Corrosion-resistant raial insert ball bearings Raial insert ball bearings for high an low temperatures Inch size esigns The raial insert ball bearings are fitte with P or R type seals an, with the exception of one series, can be relubricate. These bearings have the suffix V. The V esign is seale on both sies with RSR seals an has aitional flinger shiels mae from corrosion-resistant steel. Some raial insert ball bearings are also available for higher temperatures. These bearings have the suffix F164. Series GY..-KRR--S2/V has an inch size bore, see imension tables, page 1068 to page HR 1 Schaeffler Group Inustrial

13 Raial insert ball bearings with integral aapter sleeve In this series, the inner ring is locate on the shaft by an aapter sleeve with a locknut an a tab washer, Figure 3. The aapter sleeve an locknut give concentric, force locking location of the bearing inner ring on the shaft. s a result, the spees that can be achieve are the same as with eep groove ball bearings. These bearings also give quieter running than normal raial insert ball bearings. The aapter sleeve, locknut an tab washer are all zinc plate. Due to the integral aapter sleeve, the bearings have the same raial imensions an basic loa ratings as raial insert ball bearings with an eccentric locking collar or with grub screws in the inner ring an are interchangeable with these bearings b GSH..-2RSR- Figure 3 Location using aapter sleeve an locknut Sealing/lubrication The bearings are seale with RSR seals an can be lubricate. 14 Raial insert ball bearings Raial insert ball bearings with rive slot Raial insert ball bearings with a rive slot in the inner ring are non-locating bearings with goo high temperature characteristics, Figure 4. Non-locating bearings are use at low spees an loas to compensate for thermal elongation of the shaft. Due to the slot, they are easy to locate in a raial irection. Rotation is prevente by a rive pin on the shaft or a set collar with a pin. The non-locating bearings are suitable for rawn shafts up to grae h b GLE..-KRR- Figure 4 Location using rive slot nti-corrosion protection Sealing/lubrication Up to a bore iameter of 60 mm, the inner ring is plate with Corrotect an is thus protecte against fretting corrosion. 60 Housing units Features Housing units with cast iron housing IN house bearing units are available as plummer block, flange an take-up housing units in numerous ifferent esigns. The units are reay-to-fit an comprise IN cast iron or sheet steel housings in which IN raial insert ball bearings are fitte. In orer to ensure function an reliability uner all operating conitions, the bearings an housings are matche to each other. Due to the spherical outsie surface of the bearing outer ring an the concave housing bore, housing units can compensate for static angular misalignment of the shaft; see Compensation of misalignments, page The units are use preominantly as locating bearings, but are also suitable as non-locating bearings uner low loas an spees. The housings are screw mounte on the ajacent construction. Less stringent tolerances are aequate for the screw mounting surfaces; see Design of ajacent construction, page Cast iron housings are single-piece units with high loa carrying capacity; see Loa carrying capacity of cast iron housings, page For lubrication of raial insert ball bearings, the housing bore has a raial groove an the housing has a lubrication hole suitable for conventional lubrication nipples to DIN In the elivere conition, the hole in the housing is close off by a plastic plug. Cast iron units are available as plummer block an flange housing units. Plummer block housing units Plummer block housing units have a long or a short base, Figure 1. Housings with a long base are screw mounte to the ajacent construction by means of slots, housings with a short base by blin threae holes. PSE Figure 1 Plummer block housing unit cast iron housing with long base HR 1 Schaeffler Group Inustrial

61 Flange housing units Flange housing units are available as two-bolt, three-bolt an four-bolt units, Figure 2. The housings are oval, triangular, square or roun in shape. The housings have through holes for locating purposes. Some series also have a centring spigot. The centring spigot is mounte in a turne recess in the machine structure. This gives concentric alignment of the housings an relieves the fixing screws of any raial forces. PCJT Figure 2 Flange housing unit cast iron housing Take-up housing units Take-up housing units can be move or swivelle, Figure 3. They are use where shafts must carry out long isplacement motions PTUE Figure 3 Take-up housing unit cast iron housing Housing materials earing en caps The material use for the cast iron housings is cast iron to EN-GJL-200/250. Housings are also available by agreement in spheroial graphite cast iron to EN-GJS-400/450. In orer to cover the expose ens of rotating shafts, cast iron housings with the suffix N can be fitte with bearing en caps. Schaeffler Group Inustrial HR

62 Housing units Corrosion-resistant units Units for high an low temperatures Housing units with sheet steel housing Plummer block an flange housing units with rubber interliner Corrosion-resistant units are available as plummer block an flange housing units. The housings an insert bearings are plate with Corrotect an have the suffix F125. The units are use if moisture, contaminate water, salt spray mist, weakly alkaline or weakly aciic cleaning agents are present. These units are available as plummer block an flange housing units. The housings correspon to the cast iron housings escribe above. The high temperature variant F164 inclues a tapere lubrication nipple to DIN screwe into the housing. The raial insert ball bearings fitte have the suffix F164 or F101 an are esigne for high or low temperatures; see Raial insert ball bearings, page Sheet steel housings are two-piece units mae from presse eep rawn sheet steel an are in some cases plate with Corrotect. Series GR an GRRY can be relubricate via a lubrication nipple. The units are available as plummer block an flange housing units, Figure 4 an Figure 5. Units with sheet steel housings are suitable for moerate loas an lightweight constructions. In aition to the normal plummer block an flange housing units, there is also a esign with a rubber interliner on the bearing outer ring. This interliner absorbs shocks an vibrations an thus gives amping of running noises. Cast iron housings raial loa carrying capacity Caution! xial loa carrying capacity Sheet steel housings raial loa carrying capacity xial loa carrying capacity Permissible axial loa carrying capacity Due to their versatile characteristics, IN house bearing units can be easily use in almost all inustrial sectors. If bearing arrangements are planne for equipment in which a malfunction coul be hazarous to persons or an unplanne stoppage of the machine coul cause major isruption, it is essential that you consult us before proceeing with the esign. Cast iron housings can support the same raial loas as the raial insert ball bearings fitte. The static loa carrying capacity of raial insert ball bearings C 0r is state in the imension tables. For shock loas, appropriate safety factors must be applie. In this case, please contact us. In the case of TUE an TUEO, the maximum raial tensile loaing is only 0,25 C 0r (for higher loas, please contact us). The axial loa carrying capacity of cast iron housings is restricte to 0,50 C 0r. Sheet steel housings are suitable for moerate loas. The permissible raial loa carrying capacity C 0r G is given in the imension tables. 71 Fitting an ismantling Raial insert ball bearings must be hanle with care before an uring assembly. Their trouble-free operation is also epenent on the care taken in fitting. Delivere conition The housings have a coating of anthracite grey primer ( RL 7016). The raial insert ball bearings are grease; for information on the grease use, see table Features of raial insert ball bearings comparison of series, page Storage/storage perio Removal from packaging Guielines for fitting Caution! Caution! The units shoul be store: in ry, clean rooms with the temperature as constant as possible at a maximum relative humiity of max. 65%. The storage perio of raial insert ball bearings is limite by the storage life of the grease, see section Lubrication. Perspiration causes corrosion. Hans shoul be kept clean an ry. earings shoul not be remove from their original packaging until immeiately before assembly. If cast iron housings an bearings are not supplie by IN as reayto-fit units but are instea combine by the customer, the following guielines shoul be followe: if the fit is too loose, grease can escape between the housing an bearing an will not therefore reach the bearing uring relubrication if the fit is too tight, the bearing outer ring cannot align itself within the housing bore. The assembly area shoul be as ry an clean as possible. First, bolt the housing to the ajacent construction, then locate the inner bearing ring on the shaft if this sequence is followe, the bearing will align itself to the shaft such that stresses o not occur. Provie the fitting tools an fixing screws. Clean the shaft an remove any burrs. Inspect the bearing seating surfaces on the shaft. Keep bearing seating surfaces clean, ry an free of grease. The specifie tolerances must be observe. Fitting forces must never be irecte through the rolling elements. lows must never be applie irectly to the bearing rings an seals. Fitting of plate components efore fitting, the compatibility of proucts plate with Corrotect with the meia shoul be checke. The tolerances are increase by the thickness of the plating. In orer to reuce the forces involve in pressing-in, the surface of the parts shoul be lightly grease or a mounting paste use. Schaeffler Group Inustrial HR
