2 Introduction Welcome to Oros Analyzer, a product designed to provide a networked enterprise-wide, activity-based management solution. New Installation These instructions are for a new installation only. If you are upgrading from Oros Analyzer 1.10, please follow the instructions that begin on page 7. Step 1. Complete the Oros Analyzer Server pre-installation checklist Oros Analyzer is installed on a network server. Each user accesses Oros Analyzer for ABC/M through a client installed on a user s computer and accesses Oros Analyzer for Scorecard through a Web browser. On the Oros Analyzer Server, log in as an administrator The person who installs Oros Analyzer Server must be a member of the Administrators group in the Local Users and Groups folder on the server. Being a member of the Domain Admins group is not sufficient. Verify minimum system requirements for Oros Analyzer Server The following table lists the minimum requirements for Oros Analyzer Server. Of course, a faster processor, more memory, or more hard disk space results in better performance. 3 As for BackOffice Servers, it is not recommended that you install Terminal Services in application server mode on a server that is already dedicated to the task of running infrastructure services, such as DNS, WINS, or File and Print, or server applications such as IIS, Exchange or SQL. Client applications running under Terminal Services on these servers can severely impact the performance and scalability of these servers. Verify the correct operating system and version For Oros Analyzer for ABC/M: Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server For Oros Analyzer for Scorecard: Microsoft Windows 2000 Server For Oros Analyzer for ABC/M and Scorecard: Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server If Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server or Server is not installed, install it now. To verify the operating system service pack 1. On the desktop, right-click My Computer. 2. Select Properties. 3. On the General tab, verify that it lists Service Pack 2 in the System section. 4. If SP2 is not installed, install it now. Verify installation of Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 or greater 1. Select Start > Programs > Internet Explorer. 2. Select Help > About Internet Explorer. 3. Verify a Version of or greater. Verify the correct Microsoft SQL Server and version, with mixed mode authentication To verify the correct Microsoft SQL Server and version 1. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management. 2. Expand Services and Applications. 3. If you do not see Microsoft SQL Servers, it is not installed. Install it now. 4. Expand Microsoft SQL Servers. 5. Right-click the server name and select Properties. You see the SQL Server Properties dialog box. 6. On the General tab, verify that the Product is: For Oros Analyzer for ABC/M: SQL Server Enterprise Edition For Oros Analyzer for Scorecard: SQL Server Standard Edition For Oros Analyzer for ABC/M and Scorecard: SQL Server Enterprise Edition 7. Verify that the Product version is 8.00 or greater and SP1 or greater. SP1 is listed in parentheses after the product version number. 8. If SP1 or greater is not installed, install it now. To set up Microsoft SQL Server with mixed mode authentication: 1. Complete the previous procedure to display the SQL Server Properties dialog box for Oros Analyzer Server. 2. Click the Security tab. 3. In the Security section, select the SQL Server and Windows option for Authentication. 4. In the Startup service account section, select the This account option. 5. 4 6. Type the Password. Verify installation of Microsoft Analysis Services (MSAS) and Service Pack 1 (SP1) or greater for: Oros Analyzer for ABC/M Oros Analyzer for ABC/M and Scorecard 1. Select Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server > Analysis Services > Analysis Manager. 2. If you do not see Analysis Services, MSAS is not installed. Install it now. 3. In the Analysis Manager Console, right-click Analysis Servers and select About Analysis Services. 4. Verify that the Version is or greater. This build, or later, includes SP1. 5. If SP1 or greater is not installed, install it now. ABC Technologies recommends that you migrate the Analysis Services repository from a Microsoft Access database to an SQL Server database. SQL Server is more reliable than Access and it can be easily added to the backups you perform regularly for other SQL Server databases. For information about how to migrate an Analysis Services repository, refer to the SQL Server Analysis Manager online Help and look for Migrate Repository Wizard in the index. Step 2. For Oros Analyzer Server for Scorecard, install Oros Modeler To install Oros Modeler 5.3, follow the installation instructions in its Help system. Step 3. Install Oros Analyzer Server During the installation, to build the databases you will be asked for an SQL Server user name and password for a user who has SQL Server administrator privileges. Depending on your organization s database policies, you might or might not need to enter it. After completing the installation program, you might be asked to reboot the server. Any services you have running on the server, like Web sites, are stopped when the server shuts down. 1. On the Oros Analyzer Server, log in as an administrator. The person who installs Oros Analyzer Server must be a member of the Administrators group in the Local Users and Groups folder on the server. Being a member of the Domain Admins group is not sufficient. 2. You will be asked to enter licenses, so have all your licenses and authorization codes handy. 3. Insert the CD-ROM. 4. If the CD-ROM does not start automatically, double-click the CD icon in My Computer, then double-click start.exe. 5. Click Install Oros Analyzer. 6. Follow the instructions on the screen. a. When asked if you would like to install Microsoft.NET Framework Package, click Yes. b. When asked if you would like to install the Oros Analyzer databases, do one of the following: Enter an SQL Server User Name and Password. Select Use current login for authentication. c. Click Install. 7. If asked if you want to reboot now, click Yes. During installation of Oros Analyzer Server, anonymous access to the Oros Analyzer Web site is disabled. Please do not change anonymous access for this folder. The Oros Analyzer Server installation sets up the following components: Oros Analyzer Administrator A Web page with installation instructions for client computers, including a Help Web page A system information page that has detailed installation information about the Oros Analyzer client, the Oros Analyzer Server, and the database server Version 1.11a ABC Technologies BetterManagement.com Page 4 of 11

5 Local Windows users: OEUSR_<Oros Analyzer Server name> is the account all Oros Analyzer Server components use when running on a server. You can modify privileges for this account. You can see this user at Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > System Tools > Local Users and Groups > Users. O2KUSER is an SQL Server account. You can see this user at Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Services and Applications > Microsoft SQL Servers > <Oros Analyzer Server name> > Security > Logins. OESTATEUSER is an SQL Server account that stores temporary user data during Oros Analyzer for Scorecard sessions You can see this user at Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Services and Applications > Microsoft SQL Servers > <Oros Analyzer Server name> > Security > Logins. Databases: Oros Analyzer for ABC/M: OEAdmin for Oros Analyzer Administrator and OEModels for models Oros Analyzer for Scorecard: OEAdmin, OEModels, and ASPState, which stores the state of user Web pages You can see these databases at Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Services and Applications > Microsoft SQL Servers > <Oros Analyzer Server name> > Databases. Step 4. Set up server backup and restore procedures After installing Oros Analyzer Server and before allowing people to use Oros Analyzer, set up a backup and restore procedure. To ensure that both procedures work properly, test the backup procedure, and then test the restore procedure. Warning: Backups can only be used with the same Oros Analyzer version they were backed up from. For example, use backups made of Oros Analyzer 1.10 with Do not use backups made for Oros Analyzer 1.10 with Oros Analyzer For more information, please contact ABC Technologies Technical Support. Tip: Because backups are version-specific, include the version number in the backup name. Oros Analyzer uses an SQL Server database. For information about backing up and restoring SQL Server databases, refer to the "Database Backups" topic in the SQL Server Help topics for Enterprise Manager. Tip: If your organization has an SQL Server administrator, you can ask that person to add the Oros Analyzer databases to the organization's SQL Server backup procedure. Step 5. Set up licenses, roles, and users in Oros Analyzer Administrator 1. To start Oros Analyzer Administrator, on the server where you installed it select Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Oros Analyzer Administrator. If you cannot make changes in Oros Analyzer Administrator, like setting up licenses and roles, you have not been assigned as an Oros Analyzer Administrator. The installation program automatically set up the person who installed Oros Analyzer as an Oros Analyzer Administrator. Ask the person who installed Oros Analyzer to make the changes or to set you up as an Oros Analyzer Administrator. For instructions on how to set up licenses, roles, and users, refer to the online Help for Oros Analyzer Administrator. Step 6. For Oros Analyzer for ABC/M, install Oros Analyzer on each client computer To install Oros Analyzer for ABC/M on a computer with an operating system of Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP Professional, the person who will use Oros Analyzer must install it and that user must be a member of the Administrators group on that computer. 1. On Windows NT and Windows ME, if Oros Modeler 5.3 workstation is installed, uninstall it. 2. On Windows 98 and Windows 2000, for users who will be importing models: a. Install Oros Modeler 5.3. Follow the installation instructions in the Oros Modeler Help system. b. Use Oros (Modeler) Administrator to set up the user with Automation access in Oros Modeler. 3. On Windows 98 and Windows ME, install Microsoft Office XP before installing Oros Analyzer. Version 1.11a ABC Technologies BetterManagement.com Page 5 of 11

6 4. Close all programs. 5. If you are installing over the LAN, in a browser on a client computer type a URL in the format: Analyzer Server name>/oeserver/ <Oros Analyzer Server name> is the name of the server where Oros Analyzer Server is installed. For example, type: You might need to enter a user name, password, and domain. You see the default Oros Analyzer Web page for client installation. 6. If you are installing over the Internet, in a browser on a client computer, type the fully qualified domain name (FQDN): Analyzer Web site>/ For example, type: You see the default Oros Analyzer Client Install Web page. 7. In the browser status bar of the Oros Analyzer Client Install Web page, wait until you see Done before continuing. 8. Follow the instructions. You might be asked to install components like Microsoft Windows Installer, Microsoft SOAP Toolkit, Microsoft PivotTable List and Chart Controls, or Microsoft PivotTable Services. Microsoft PivotTable List and Chart Controls installs Microsoft Office XP Web Components and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 PivotTable Services. When installing the Microsoft SOAP Toolkit on Windows 98, if you see a message similar to the following one, you must click Ignore: Module C:\Program Files\Common Files\MSSoap\Binaries\MSSMO.dll failed to register. HRESULT If you see a message that files are in use, close Internet Explorer, and then click Retry. If you do not see a message that states Setup Complete Oros Analyzer installed successfully, all required components have not been installed. Re-start the installation at step 5. When installing Microsoft SQL Server 2000 PivotTable Services, if you are asked to reboot your computer, you must select Yes, I want to restart my computer now. 9. After all the components and Oros Analyzer for ABC/M have been installed, close the installation Web page if it is still open. 10. In Internet Explorer, clear the cache. To do so: a. Select Tools > Internet Options. You see the Internet Options dialog box. b. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click Delete Files. c. When asked if you want to delete files, select Delete all offline content, and click OK. 11. On Windows NT and Windows ME, for users who will be importing models: a. Install Oros Modeler 5.3. Follow the installation instructions in the Oros Modeler Help system. b. Use Oros (Modeler) Administrator to set up the user with Automation access in Oros Modeler. 12. Start the client by double-clicking the Oros Analyzer icon on the desktop or by selecting Start > Programs > Oros Analyzer. When you start Oros Analyzer for the first time, you might see an Enter Network Password dialog box a couple of times. Type your regular network User Name, Password, and Domain. 7 Step 7. For Oros Analyzer for Scorecard, notify users about how to start the program Send or tell your users how to start Oros Analyzer for Scorecard: Oros Analyzer Installation Checklist If they are accessing Oros Analyzer for Scorecard over the LAN, in a browser on a client computer type a URL in the format: Analyzer Server name>/oeserver/sc <Oros Analyzer Server name> is the name of the server where Oros Analyzer Server is installed. For example, type: You see Oros Analyzer for Scorecard. If they are accessing Oros Analyzer for Scorecard over the Internet, in a browser on a client computer, type a URL in the format: Analyzer Web site>/sc For example, type: You see Oros Analyzer for Scorecard. Upgrade from Oros Analyzer 1.10 If people have used Oros Analyzer for Scorecard 1.10 and they want to keep their scorecards, give them an opportunity to record information about user-defined properties (attributes) before you upgrade to Oros Analyzer The upgrade tags all the user-defined properties to a specific scorecard, which is different from Oros Analyzer 1.10 where all the user-defined properties were shared by all scorecards. After upgrading Oros Analyzer Server to 1.11, Designers must update the scorecards they originally imported, then re-add user-defined properties for each scorecard for the following items: User-defined property columns added to named views Selections with user-defined property filters Selections with group data User-defined reports The following upgrade steps are explained in the sections that follow. Before upgrading, please read all the information in this section. Step 1. Backup SQL Server databases Step 2. Uninstall Oros Analyzer Server 1.10 Step 3. Install Oros Analyzer Server 1.11 Step 4. Backup SQL Server databases ABC Technologies recommends you back up the Oros Analyzer SQL Server databases whenever you upgrade Oros Analyzer. The SQL Server databases you need to back up are OEAdmin and OEModels. You do not need to backup ASPState, which stores the state of user Web pages. Warning: Backups are version-specific: do not restore Oros Analyzer 1.10 databases to Oros Analyzer 1.11 databases. For more information, please contact ABC Technologies Technical Support. Before backing up, verify that no one is using Oros Analyzer on the server that you are upgrading. Tip: Because backups are version-specific, include the version number in the backup name. Step 2. Uninstall Oros Analyzer Server 1.10 Before uninstalling Oros Analyzer Server, the following instructions direct you to uninstall supporting software that was installed with Oros Analyzer Server Other software not related to Oros Analyzer Server might also use the same supporting software. 8 After completing the installation program, you might be asked to reboot the server. Any services you have running on the server, like Web sites, are stopped when the server shuts down. 1. Verify that no one is using Oros Analyzer and that Oros Analyzer is closed on all client computers. 2. On the server, use Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel to remove the following supporting software if it is installed: Microsoft.NET Framework or earlier Microsoft Internet Explorer WebControls Microsoft SOAP Toolkit 3. On the server, use Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel to remove Oros Analyzer Server. a. When it asks if you want to delete the Oros Analyzer databases: If you are upgrading models or scorecards that exist, click Don t Delete. This saves the databases so that they can be upgraded later. If your users want to remove the current databases and use Oros Analyzer 1.11 with new databases, click OK. b. If it asks if you want to reboot now, click Yes. Step 3. Install Oros Analyzer Server 1.11 During the installation, to build the databases you will be asked for an SQL Server user name and password for a user who has SQL Server administrator privileges. Depending on your organization s database policies, you might or might not need to enter it. During the installation, you install a newer version of Microsoft.NET Framework. After completing the installation program, you might be asked to reboot the server. Any services you have running on the server, like Web sites, are stopped when the server shuts down. 1. On the Oros Analyzer Server, log in as an administrator. The person who installs Oros Analyzer Server must be a member of the Administrators group in the Local Users and Groups folder on the server. New databases are created and scorecards in Oros Analyzer 1.10 are no longer available. 7. If asked if you want to reboot now, click Yes. During installation of Oros Analyzer Server, anonymous access to the Oros Analyzer Web site is disabled. Please do not change anonymous access for this folder. 9 Step 4. Upgrade Oros Analyzer for ABC/M on each client computer To uninstall Oros Analyzer for ABC/M In the Control Panel on the client computer, use Add/Remove Programs to remove: Oros Analyzer 2. In Internet Explorer, clear the cache. To do so: a. Select Tools > Internet Options. You see the Internet Options dialog box. b. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click Delete Files. c. When asked if you want to delete files, select Delete all offline content, and click OK. To install Oros Analyzer for ABC/M Follow the instructions for Step 6. For Oros Analyzer for ABC/M, install Oros Analyzer on each client computer on page 5. Step 5. Notify Oros Analyzer for Scorecard users that they need to update scorecards Designers need to update the scorecards they originally imported, then re-add user-defined properties for each scorecard. Note: All scorecards must be updated before anyone can use any scorecard. Users can access the following instructions by clicking the Release Notes link on the Home page in Oros Analyzer for Scorecard. 1. Re-import each scorecard and select the Update existing scorecard option. 2. Re-add all items with user-defined properties. Add user-defined property columns to named views. Add selection filters for user-defined properties. Add selection group-by settings. Re-create all user-defined reports. Additional information about using Oros Analyzer for ABC/M Changing the Oros Analyzer Server If a user attempts to change the Oros Analyzer Server they are accessing and mistype the URL, they will not be able to access any Oros Analyzer Server. To work around this, follow the instructions for the command prompt or the desktop icon. To change the Oros Analyzer Server from the command prompt 1. Select Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. You see the Command Prompt window. 2. Change directories to the bin directory where you installed Oros Analyzer. For example, type: cd "C:\Program Files\Abc Technologies\Oros Enterprise\Bin" 3. To run ioros with the /selectserver switch, type: ioros.exe /selectserver You see the Select Server for Oros Analyzer dialog box. 4. Change the URL and click OK. To change the Oros Analyzer Server from a desktop icon 1. On the desktop, right-click the Oros Analyzer icon and from the pop-up menu select Copy. 10 2. Right-click on the desktop and select Paste. 3. (Optional) Change the name of the new icon. For example, change the name to Change OA Server. 4. Right-click on the new icon and select Properties. You see the Oros Analyzer Properties dialog box. 5. In the Target box, add /selectserver to the end of the line, outside the quote mark. Depending on where you installed Oros Analyzer, it should look something like this: C:\Program Files\Abc Technologies\Oros Enterprise\Bin\iOros.exe /selectserver 6. Click OK. 7. On the desktop, double-click the new icon. You see the Select Server for Oros Analyzer dialog box. 8. Change the URL and click OK. 9. To start Oros Analyzer, double-click the original Oros Analyzer icon. You can delete the new icon or you can save it to use later when: You mistype a server name You switch to a server where you are not set up in Oros Analyzer Administrator You switch to a server that is down Troubleshooting Problem Solution or workaround Notes Users cannot connect to an Oros Analyzer Server after restoring a backup. One reason is that a restored backup has O2KUSER information that does not match SQL Server user information. On the Oros Analyzer Server, run RestoreCleanUp.vbs in the Database folder. Depending on where you installed Oros Analyzer Server, the path is: C:\Program Files\ABC Technologies\Oros Enterprise Server\ Database\RestoreCleanUp.vbs Message Solution or workaround Notes Failed to connect to the Oros Analyzer Server. Check your network connection or contact the administrator. One reason for this message is a user who is not set up in Oros Analyzer Administrator on the server the user is trying to connect to. For instructions on how to set up licenses, roles, and users, refer to the online Help for Oros Analyzer Administrator. Another reason is described in the previous Users cannot connect to an Oros Analyzer Server problem. Import failed: Procedure or function spimp_measuresourceobjective MeasureImport has too many arguments specified. Redo the upgrade to Oros Analyzer 1.11 by following the instructions that begin on page 7. While following the instructions, uninstall Oros Analyzer 1.11 instead of uninstalling Oros Analyzer Be sure to select the options (Don t Delete and Upgrade) for upgrading scorecards (databases). After upgrading to Oros Analyzer 1.11, a 1.10 backup was restored to 1.11, and then a Scorecard user imported a model. Version 1.11a ABC Technologies BetterManagement.com Page 10 of 11

11 Message Solution or workaround Notes Oros Analyzer Installation Checklist IOROS Caused an invalid page fault in module KERNELL32.DLL at 016f:bff7b9e3. Ioros has caused an error in MSI.DLL. Ioros will now close. Ioros has caused an error in MFC42.DLL. Ioros will now close. Install Microsoft Office XP. This is a problem on client computers with Windows 98 or Window ME. An alternative is to upgrade the operating system. Additional information To open Oros Analyzer cubes with other programs, users need to know a model s ID. You can look it up for them. 1.
