2 Hue Shift Afghan Notes: Eleven colors blend harmoniously in this mitered afghan. This afghan is crocheted in four pieces and seamed together. Each of the four pieces begins at one corner, and mitered squares are crocheted directly onto the existing work. The afghan is crocheted primarily by working single crochet through the back loop only. Exceptions are the decreases and first and last stitches of the row. These are worked through both loops of the stitch. Working SC through both loops and the beginning and end of the row creates a smoother foundation to crochet along the edge when you join squares. Working at gauge, a single color square will use 0 grams of yarn. Each color is used for single color square and additional squares where it is paired with another color. This means each of the 0 main body colors will use all 00 grams of the skein. We have suggested an additional skein for each color, to make sure the entire pattern can be completed. Single Stitches Together - SC TOG Work decreases through both loops of stitch. Insert hook into the next stitch, YO and draw a loop through the stitch ( loops on hook). Each of the four sections of the afghan begins and is worked the same way. The next row of squares is picked up and crocheted onto the previous row, and so on, until the section is complete. Mitered Squares Square : With the first color indicated, loosely chain. 6 About the Designer Born and raised on eastern Long Island, NY, Erica Jackofsky grew up surrounded by the arts performing (playing fiddle, flatfoot dancing, and singing) and traveling around the country with her family band, The Homegrown String Band. During her travels, Erica discovered knitting and crocheting and it wasn t long before the kid who fiddles to a different drummer was accumulating a yarn stash and designing her own projects.
