2 Venezia Sport - Cable Cardigan Designed by Vera Sanon This shape flattering cardigan is worked from the bottom-up, in separate pieces that are seamed together. The button bands are worked simultaneously with the cardigan fronts. Instructions are included for two different front neckline options, one that is smaller (as pictured in the main pattern photo) and a second one that is wider (see photo below). The bodice features pretty cables that accentuate the waist. Sizes: S (M, L, XL, 2XL) Chest Measurement: 34 (38, 42, 44, 48) inch actual chest measurement. The cardigan has zero ease around the chest, however, the cable ribbed construction has some stretch and gives up to 2-4 of additional ease. Gauge: 24 sts & 28 rows 4 in stockinette st on larger sized needles Materials: Cascade Venezia Sport (70% Merino/30% Silk; 281 m/307 yds per 100 g/3.53oz) 3 (4, 5, 5, 5) skeins Needles: 1 US # 5 (3.75 mm) 32 circular needle or use needle size to obtain gauge 1 US # 3 (3.25 mm) - 16 & 32 circular needle & DPN Optional: 1 set of US #1 (2.5 mm) 32 circular needle to pick up neckband stitches Notions: Round & Removable Stitch Markers, Tapestry Needle, Cable Needle Stitch Holder/Spare Needle or Scrap Yarn to hold stitches. DIRECTIONS: BACK With larger sized needles, CO 110 (114, 126, 132, 144) sts. Starting with a WS row, work 11 rows in garter st. Next RS Row: K all sts. Next WS Row: P all sts. Repeat last two rows 25 (29, 29, 29, 33) more times. Total stockinette rows worked 52 (60, 60, 60, 68) rows. Fitting Tip: If a longer length cardigan is desired, work more rows in the stockinette portion. BO remaining 29 (32, 32, 32, 33) sts. SLEEVES (work two) With smaller sized needles, CO 42 (46, 46, 50, 50) sts. Starting with a WS row, work 11 rows in garter st. Next RS Row: Change to larger sized needles, increase 10 (all sizes) sts evenly. 52 (56, 56, 60, 60) sts on needles. Continue working sleeves in stockinette st for 12 (all sizes) rows. Increase Row (RS): K2, M1, K to last 2 sts, M1, K2. Work 5 (5, 5, 3, 3) rows in pattern.

6 Repeat last 6 (6, 6, 4, 4) rows 6 (7, 15, 16, 21) more times. 66 (72, 88, 94, 104) sts on needles. Work sleeves in pattern until piece measures 9.5 (10, 10.5, 10.5, 11) from CO edge. Shape Sleeve Cap: BO 4 (4, 4, 4, 6) sts at beginning of next 2 rows. BO 2 (2, 2, 2, 2) sts at beginning of next 2 rows. 54 (60, 76, 82, 88) sts on needles. Decrease Row 1 (RS): K1, ssk, work in pattern to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. Decrease Row 2 (WS): P all sts. Repeat last two rows 20 (23, 29, 32, 34) more times. End with a WS Row BO remaining 12 (12, 16, 16, 18) sts on next row. FINISHING (part 1) Block pieces, sew shoulder seams, fronts and back side seams together. Sew together sleeves and sew sleeves onto cardigan. NECKLINE Using smaller sized needle, pick up and knit 25 sts (all sizes) from the right front band, pick up 3 sts for every 4 rows worked for the right front vertical neckline, pick up 1 stitch per bound-off stitch for the back neck, pick up 3 sts for every 4 rows worked for the left front vertical neckline, pick up 25 sts (all sizes) from the left front band. Work 3 rows in garter st. Next Row (RS - Buttonhole row): K3, K2tog, YO, SSK, K to end of row. Next Row (WS): K to YO, kfb into YO, K to end of row. Work 5 more rows in garter st. BO all sts in next row, make sure not to bind off too tight. FINISHING Weave in ends, sew on buttons, and block garment. Enjoy!
