2 FROM THE FACILITATORS' DESK 1. We are happy to inform you that an All India Seminar is being organised by the Confederation of Indian Bar and the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University, Bhubaneswar to deliberate on Global Legal Education. 2. The theme of this seminar is selected keeping in mind the changing international scenario. Gone are the days when one could say that I am an Indian lawyer and only know Indian laws and for knowing the laws of a particular foreign country, one needed to consult the lawyers of that country. 3. The growth of international trade and commerce and the movement of citizens globally along with the growth of economic, political, social and international interdependence of the citizens of different countries has necessitated the requirement of deliberation on the generally accepted principles and rules of international law. 4. We have selected ten topics for the working sessions which reflect some of the important facets of the theme of the seminar. The contribution of the Bar, the Bench, the academicians as well as the teachers and the students will be very valuable. 5. At the end of this seminar we will come out with broad conclusions and suggestions which will be a starting point for future deliberations. 6. We are grateful to Hon'ble Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the President of India for having kindly agreed to inaugurate the Seminar.
