1 Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujeirah, Sharjah THE EMIRATES & OMAN Feb 05-19, 2008 ( 15 days ) Day 01 Feb 05, Tue: Day 02 Feb 06, Wed: Day 03 Feb 07, Thu: Day 04 Feb 08, Fri: CANADA ABU DHABI Departure for The United Arab Emirates in the morning ARRIVE ABU DHABI Morning arrival at Abu Dhabi International Airport and start of a leisurely panoramic tour with a visit to the heritage village lunch at Al Dhafra restaurant with the skyline of Abu Dhabi as a great backdrop then early afternoon check in and time to rest dinner at the hotel (L,D) ABU DHABI After breakfast we proceed with our Abu Dhabi city tour you will be fascinated by the city s unique blend of culture, traditional arts and crafts in the oriental markets and handicraft centers explore the Manhattan of the Middle East from sandy beaches to spectacular palaces and forts as we visit the women s handicraft center, Al Husn Fort, the Iranian Bazaar, the old Dhow yard, the dates and vegetable market, the oriental carpet market, breakwater Island as well as the heritage market after lunch on your own there is a bit of free time as well (B,D) ABU DHABI AL AIN This morning we depart for Al Ain, the Garden City the road to the beautiful Oasis is spectacular, with its rolling dunes scenery and undulating plains we will visit one of the oldest life stock markets dating back to the 18th century and the famous camel (the animal has always played a centre stage in the life of the desert people) market will be a memorable one go back in time in the Oasis history to 5000 BC as we visit the camel racetrack, Al Ain National and Archeological Museum and fossil valley in the afternoon we drive past the Jebel Hafeet Mountains and check into our hotel enjoy the comfort and exotic scenery of this Oasis city (B,D) Day 05 Feb 09, Sat: AL AIN OMAN ( SOHAR NAKHL MUSCAT ) Today we head to the Sultanat of Oman as we drive through Sohar and Nakhl we visit the 17 th century fortress of Nakhl that stands guard over palm plantations and commands a superb 360 degree view of the surrounding countryside; Nakhl is famous for its mineral laden hot springs, which flow year round from the mountain rock we continue on to Muscat, check in and dinner (B,D)

2 Day 06 Feb 10, Sun: Day 07 Feb 11, Mon: Day 08 Feb 12, Tue: Day 09 Feb 13, Wed: Day 10 Feb 14, Thu: MUSCAT On our tour of the Omani capital we visit the Grand Mosque (the only mosque in Oman where visitors are allowed inside) it has the biggest 1 piece hand made Iranian carpet in the world and the interior walls are made of Carrara marbles we then drive around the ministries & embassies area before proceeding to the Muttrah Souk, a traditional market where one can find fine souvenirs of local handicrafts from Oman we also experience old Muscat where we will see the Al Alam Palace (the official palace of His Majesty) and the two Portuguese forts: Jalali & Mirani (B,D) MUSCAT FANJA BIRKAT AL MOUZ NIZWA We travel to Fanja and have a photo stop in the old village then it is on to Birkat Al Mouz where we will learn about the falaj system: the ancient irrigation system and the date palm plantations upon arrival in Nizwa we visit the traditional souq, famous for Omani silver crafts and other local handicrafts and we visit Nizwa Fort, one of the most visited monuments in Oman (B,D) NIZWA BAHLA JABRIN FUJEIRAH The Bahla Fort is in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites and being renovated to be brought back to its old splendour and at the Jabrin Fort we can see a fine example of Islamic architecture with wooden inscriptions and paintings on the ceiling we end the day back in the The United Arab Emirates as we check into our beach front hotel in Fujeirah (B,D) FUJEIRAH All day at leisure at the hotel, chance to go on a boat cruise, swimming, take an optional flight or tour into the mountains sit back and do as you like in a great exotic setting (B,D) FUJEIRAH DUBAI After breakfast we start with our East Coast Circle Tour and see different landscapes of the UAE in one day - we pass the lush green agricultural area of Dhaid before reaching the Hajar Mountains where we stop at a local market, famous for its pottery; fruits and carpets are sold at bargain prices - from Masafi we drive through the mountains: we will pass Wadis (dried out riverbeds formed during the millenniums) we reach the Indian Ocean and will make a short trip back into to the Oman territory at Dibba we visit a local fish market with its abundant and colorful catch - driving along the coast through small fishing villages, we will arrive at the Bidaya mosque, the oldest one in the UAE we will visit Khor Fakkan where there is an opportunity to relax at the beach and have a refreshing swim then we will pass the thriving port town of Fujeirah before ending our day in Dubai (B,D)

3 Day 11 Feb 15, Fri: DUBAI Morning at leisure then we enjoy lunch at a Bastakiya restaurant afterwards we start with a half day Dubai city tour and experience both the modern and the ancient of Dubai - our route takes us to Jumeirah mosque, continuing towards the World Trade Center, one of the highest buildings in the Middle East on the way we pass some of the palaces belonging to the ruling family of Dubai after a short break by the creek ( the inlet along which the city was founded), we arrive in the oldest part of the city: Bastakiya where old wind-towered houses of wealthy merchants are still to be seen then we visit the fascinating Dubai Museum in the Al Fahidi Fort, which has been defending the early settlers already two centuries ago through the material market and past the wind-towers we head to the creek where local water taxis will take us across to the spice and gold souks: we will walk through the bustling alleys of these markets being amazed by mystical aromas of numerous spices and the breath-taking amount of dazzling jewelry varying from traditional to the latest designs, displayed by almost 200 shops (B,L,D) Day 12 Feb 16, Sat: DUBAI We start with an unforgettable photo stop near the Burj Al Arab, the only 7star hotel in the world and relax on the beach nearby for a moment we then drive past the Dubai Marina and stop at the Mall of the Emirates for shopping and time for lunch (maybe you want to strap on skis for an indoor skiing adventure?) this afternoon we start our desert Safari: after settling into our 4x4 jeeps, we will speed through the desert of golden sand dunes the dune bashing or desert driving is a thrilling experience and will take us to the main campsite this will be one of the highlights of the trip: we will witness a true Arabian sunset with its glory and magic. There is an opportunity to try camel riding in the Bedouin camp and afterwards a delicious Barbecue dinner will be prepared on open fires you can rest on Persian rugs and carpets and enjoy the belly dancing and music and feel like a Sheikh during this Arabian Night in the Desert return to the hotel later at night (B,D)

4 Day 13 Feb 17, Sun: Day 14 Feb 18, Mon: Day 15 Feb 19, Tue: DUBAI The Emirate of Sharjah is only 15 minutes from Dubai we start at the Cultural Roundabout, one of the most beautiful spots in the UAE and continue along the beach road passing the ruler s Palace after a photo stop at the Al Majarra Souk we visit Al Naboodah house, the cultural museum we proceed to visit the traditional Al Arsah Souk and the fish market and of course the fabulous Central Souk boasting typical Arabic architecture and hundreds of shops opposite the Souk stands the majestic King Faisal Mosque and the Pearl Monument, symbol of the UAE Federation this afternoon you have time at leisure and in the evening we board our traditional Dhow boat while cruising on the creek (with the vistas of Dubai by Night) we will enjoy a sumptuous buffet dinner including continental and oriental dishes, accompanied by Arab Music (B,D) DUBAI Today is at leisure: enjoy a day at the beach, some shopping, golf or simply relax we check out early afternoon, have dinner and then head for the airport of Abu Dhabi for a flight leaving after midnight (B,D) DUBAI ABU DHABI CANADA Our flight leaves right after midnight and takes us back to Canada where we arrive in the morning of the same day

RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENT: A deposit of $400 per person is required at the time of making a reservation on the Special Travel International (hereafter called STI) tour of your choice. This deposit forms part of your final payment which is due 2 months prior to departure. Travel documents will be sent to you approximately 14 days prior to your trip departure, provided full payment has been received. TOUR PRICES: All tour prices for land arrangements are based on rates effective at the time of printing and are expected to be in effect at the time of departure. The passenger contract in use by the airlines concerned, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the airline and the purchase of these tours and/or passenger.
