1 Kea Community Primary School Pupil Premium Grant Report Autumn 2016 The Pupil Premium is a source of funding made available to schools by the Government. This is targeted funding to be used to provide opportunities for disadvantaged pupils. The national trend is that pupils who are eligible for free school meals have lower achievement than those who are not eligible. The Pupil Premium grant is to be used to help narrow this gap. At Kea School, we believe that all pupils should be supported to achieve their potential. We are committed to using the resources made available to us to help achieve the best outcomes for all learners.

Curriculum focus of PPG spending 2016/17 Ensuring Key Stage 1 pupils make the expected progress in reading through weekly booster lessons with support staff Raising attainment in maths to ensure all pupils make at least expected progress Raising attainment in literacy to ensure all pupils make at least expected progress Provision of one to one and small group tuition in upper Key Stage 2 to ensure that majority of pupils reach expected levels in maths and English. Thrive training for staff + Resources for Thrive Room Social and emotional skills support (Thrive) for children who experience difficulties in these areas to enable them to access learning effectively Financial support towards swimming for pupils in Y3 and 4 Access to residential visits for all, regardless of financial circumstances to ensure that all pupils make the most of educational opportunities on offer Access to wider opportunities (e.g. music lessons)

6 Impact of PPG 2015/16 Impact of PPG 2015 / 16 was good for most pupils Pupils who received one to one support have made good progress. Pupils, parents and teachers reported it helped pupil gain confidence and understanding. Of Y6 pupils (5 in total) in receipt of PPG funding achieved, 60% achieved expected standards in reading and maths and 80% achieved expected standard in writing. (20% achieved greater depth in writing.) Of Y6 pupils in receipt of PPG funding, 60% achieved higher progress levels than that of pupils nationally in reading and writing. The average progress of pupils in receipt of PPG funding in maths was slightly lower than that of pupils nationally. All pupils in receipt of PPG funding in Y4, 5 and 6 took part in school residential visits. 67% pupils in receipt of PPG funding had attendance of 95% or more. Those with lower attendance. More than half of the lower attendees had significant medical/health issues (e.g. surgery) during the year. Other families were supported through TAC meetings or the Education Welfare Service. Impact of PPG 2014/15 Impact of PPG 2014 / 15 was good Pupils who received one to one support have made accelerated progress. Pupils, parents and teachers reported it helped pupil gain confidence and understanding. Average points progress of pupils in receipt of PPG funding was in line with national expectations in maths and better than national expectations in reading and writing. Y6 pupils (2 in total) in receipt of PPG funding achieved at least L4 in reading and both achieved L5 in writing and maths. Y6 pupils in receipt of PPG funding made 2 levels progress throughout KS2 in reading and 3 levels progress in writing and maths. Average points progress throughout KS2 of Y6 pupils in receipt of PPG funding was 13 in reading, 17 in writing and 16 in maths (expected progress nationally 12 points). All pupils in receipt of PPG funding took part in school residential visits. Average annual attendance of pupils in receipt of PPG funding was 94.7% (average attendance for whole school 2014/ %)
