2 Inspiration Maps Tools for Common Core State Standards Reading Standards for Literature Literature Analysis Literary Analysis Literature Secondary Analysis (Title of Fiction) Main This graphic organizer can be used to structure your notes while reading a work of fiction. Add topic and subtopics to expand your thinking and make connections between ideas. Use notes to add detail, include quotes from the text and/or reference Major Theme examples with page numbers. To write an essay using your notes, complete the writing process in Outline View or use the Transfer tool to continue the writing process in a word processor. To create... Plot Summary In your plot summary, show how Narrative Development the theme develops over the Strategies #1 course of the text. Use the evidence symbols to cite specific statements or passages... (Title of Fiction) Development #2 Plot Summary 8.2 Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text, including its relationship to the characters, setting, and plot; provide an objective summary of the text. You may want to consider theme, tone, style, message to the reader, characters and the author s life. Primary Source: (Name) A primary source is a document, recording, speech, artifact or other source of information that was written or created during the time under study. Use the graphic organizer to analyze a primary source, expressing your ideas with symbols and text. Add subtopics to expand your thinking and make connections between ideas, using notes to add detail.
