1 What data supports the strategy? (Insert data or put data in summary form.) Cabarrus County Schools supports the implementation of nationally accredited academies with specialized programs in each CCS high school. The Academy of Health Sciences and Biotechnology has a specialized curriculum in biotechnology and health sciences designed to prepare students for post-secondary education and careers through a theme-based, contextualized curriculum approach. What strengths were noted from that data? The development of a four-year program of sequenced work-based learning experiences that include activities with career awareness, career exploration, and career preparation guarantee that students are provided with learning opportunities that grow in sophistication, duration, and intensity in every CCS high school. What opportunities for improvement were noted in that data? Currently, the Academy of Health Sciences and Biotechnology at NCHS is not nationally accredited and therefore does not have the human, financial and technical resources to ensure the stability and sustainability of the academy.
