1 17 Degree-of-freedom Robot Set 1. Description This is a complete set of a Robot with 17 degree freedom. It will be a fun, nice look, and challenging robotics project which ready to assemble. The set includes all the seventeen high-end servos and servo wheels which other sellers does not include. 2. 2 4. Instruction for assembly (Please read through the instruction before start): a. Take 2 servo brackets, 2 cup bearings, 2 M3 x 10mm pan head screws and nuts. Fix them as follow. b. Take 8 M3 x 8mm flat head screws and nuts. Fix them to sole brackets. (Note the position) c. For all servos it is recommended using external power source for calibration. Adjust the voltage to the range from DC 4.8V to 6V and connect the servos as follow. Brown wire to GND of the power source, red to + and orange to digital pin 10. Download Code for Servo Calibration from and upload it to Arduino board. Remember to connect GND on Arduino board to both GND on servo and power source. Page 2

3 d. You may also calibrate MG996R servos with Arduino board directly, but the result is not as good as with external power source because of weaker current. e. The servo should turn a little bit after calibration. Put a servo wheel on servo as below. Make sure all servo wheels are positioned correctly. Do the same step for all servos. f. Take a short U-shaped bracket and put it on the cup bearing and put a servo to the servo bracket Page 3

4 g. Take 4 M4 x 8mm screws and fasten the servo to the bracket as follow. Please do the same steps for another one. h. Take 5 M3 x 5mm screws and tighten the brackets to the servo wheels. i. Fix 2 servo brackets to the parts with M3 x 7mm pan head screws. Fasten 2 cup bearings as follow. Page 4

5 j. Put 1 short U-shaped bracket on the cup bearing. Place a servo to the servo bracket and fasten it. Do the same steps for the right leg. k. Pick 2 oblique U-shaped brackets and fix them to the legs. l. Take 2 servo bracket and 1 I-shaped bracket. Fasten them as follow. Do the steps one more time. Fix 4 cup bearing on the parts. 6 m. Put the part on the cup bearing. Place a servo to the servo bracket and fasten it. Do the same steps for the right leg. n. Put a long U-shaped bracket on the cup bearing. Place a servo to the servo bracket and fasten it. Do the same steps for the right leg. o. Take a short U-shaped bracket and fix it on the top of the leg. Do the same step for the right leg. Page 6

8 r. Assemble these parts to a U-shaped base bracket. s. Fix cup bearings to servo brackets as follow. Fasten them to the body. (Note the position) t. Now we can assemble the legs to the body. Put the holes to the cup bearings. Put 2 servos to the servo brackets and fasten them. Page 8

9 u. Fix a servo controller at the back of the robot with metal / plastic standoff. Make sure do not leave too much on the other side. Otherwise, this would be an obstacle for installing servos. v. Take 2 oblique U-shaped brackets and fasten them on servo wheels as follow. Then fix them to the body. w. Take 2 servo brackets and fasten them with 2 L-shaped brackets. Fix 2 cup bearings to the servo brackets. Assemble two long U-shaped brackets to the end of the L-shaped brackets as follow. Page 9

10 x. Put them to the body like this. Take 2 servos and install to the servo brackets. Fasten the servo wheels and the servos. Another view. Page 10

11 y. Fix 2 I-shaped brackets to 2 servo brackets as follow. Fasten 2 cup bearings to servo brackets. (Note the position) z. Put them to the body like this. Take 2 servos and install to the servo brackets. Fasten the servo wheels and the servos. Page 11

12 Finish. You may start doing testing now. 5. Troubleshooting: Make sure all directions and positions follow the instruction accordingly. All servos should be calibrated before installing to brackets. Nuts for M3 x 8mm and M3 x 10mm are the same. The servo wires may not long enough to reach the servo controller. Use extension wires if it happens. If the servo wires are messy, bunching them with plastic cable ties. 6. Copyright: In order to design this low cost high value product which benefits lots of people or student, the original designer has spent days and nights to improve and create this new product. We hope the hardwork of the original designer would be respected. We encourage improvement and new ideas. However, direct copying the design is not only theft, but also kills future innovations.
