Historical highlights The municipality of Mäntsälä was founded in In Finnish history, the municipality is known particularly for the Mäntsälä Rebellion, which began in Ohkola Workers Hall in During the rebellion, the Lapua Movement attempted to overthrow the Finnish Government. 8 Sulkava The scenic Sälinkää village is located on the shore of Lake Kilpijärvi. The lively village is home to a school, a day-care centre, a shop and a guesthouse. Maitoinen Municipality of Manors The old-time village milieu of Ohkola is also scenically valuable. Kaanaa Soukkio Historical manor houses are an inseparable part of Mäntsälä: in the 17th century, almost every village had its own manor. The biggest of these was Sälinkää Manor, from which many tenant farms later separated.
