There are huge animals, like hippos and bears. There are tiny animals, like frogs and spiders. What can we hear? There are noisy animals, like parrots and monkeys. There are quiet animals, like koalas and tortoises. Where are all the animals? Some animals like to hide, like meerkats and foxes. Some animals like to sit in the sun, like lizards and snakes. What do they eat? Some animals eat meat. Some animals eat leaves. Animals are different, just like you and me! Part B. Let's Talk What can you see at the zoo? What animals are tiny? What do animals eat? What is your favorite zoo animal? 2

You can find different kinds of animals all over the world. Some animals live in forests and the ocean. Some even fly in the sky! Let s take a look at where you can find these animals! Birds have wings that allow them to fly in the sky. However, not all birds can fly. Some birds, like penguins and ostriches, cannot fly. Many animals live on land. There are different kinds of animals in different parts of the world. There are lions in Africa, penguins in Antarctica, and tigers in India. Most of the world s animals live in the ocean, like fish, whales, and sea turtles. There are still many more animals we have not seen yet! Part E. Let's Talk What other animals live on land? An animal s natural habit is the place where it lives. That is its home. A tiger s natural habitat is a place with lots of tall trees, bushes, and grass, such as jungles and forests. They also need to live near water. A fish s natural habitat is in the water. They live in places with lots of plants and rocks, such as rivers and oceans. A fish needs plants for food and a place to hide. Not all animals live in the same place. Can you think of other animal homes? Part B. Let's Talk Where do animals live? Why do fish need plants?
