English Tejs Vegge Didier Blanchard Hydrogen storage properties of the mixture LiBH4 + CdCl2 were studied. The samples were synthesized using planetary ball milling and characterized by x- ray powder diffraction. The thermal desorption was investigated using a Sieverts equipment and mass spectrometry. The main aim was to see if the LiBH4 desorption temperature could be lowered by destabilizing the compound, and if the dehydrogenation was reversible. The main results was that a new phase, with a proposed nominal composition Cd(BH4)2, for which no available structural data were found in the literature, was produced; this new phase releases mainly H2 at temperatures of C. The re-hydrogenation under 90 bar and 100 C for 18 hours showed signals of absorption, but higher pressure and temperature should be applied to fully test the reversibility of the dehydrogenation. I developed solid organization skills during the experimental M.Sc. thesis carried out at Risø DTU and also thanks to the arrangement of LEAP and MatER (LEAP centre working on recovery of materials and energy from refuse) projects, activities and dissemination events, alone and in collaboration with the colleagues. 4
