2 VeriFone Router Configuration Utility Overview The VeriFone Router Configuration Utility (VRCU) Release Notes are designed as a reference for the Cisco ASA 5505 Series router, Cisco SOHO (Small Office/ Home Office) Router, and the Cisco 851 Series Router used at Topaz and Sapphire sites. Important Information Requirements VeriFone Router Model The VRCU is compatible with the Cisco ASA 5505 series Router (P/N P R), Cisco SOHO 91 Router (P/N P ), and the Cisco 851 Series Router (P/N P ). PC Requirements Operating System The VRCU will install and run only on PCs with Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 operating systems. Earlier Windows operating systems, and non-windows operating systems, are not supported. Connections The PC must have a serial port if you plan to connect the VRCU to the router with a serial cable. The PC must have an Ethernet adapter if you plan to connect the VRCU to a router with an Ethernet connection. 2

3 WAN Hardware Linkup NOTE: Used only with the Cisco SOHO Router and the Cisco 851 Series Router. A cross-over adapter may be required. If the VeriFone Router cables are connected, but a solid green light does not show on Internet Port 1, the cross-over adapter, VeriFone P/N , should be used on the WAN (Wide Area Network) port. Restrictions NOTE: Used only with the Cisco SOHO Router and the Cisco 851 Series Router. LAN Side Configuration For security reasons, the VeriFone Router may only be configured on site from the LAN (Local Area Network) side. Remote configuration from the WAN (Wide Are Network) side is not allowed by the VeriFone Router which has the administrative port turned off. Likewise, the internal Web server has been disabled. New In This Release: RESOLUTION System Previously, when the Card Network was configured for the ASA 5500, there were access list entries generated incorrectly. This was corrected. 3

4 New In Previous Release: ENHANCEMENTS System The following enhancements have been added: The ability to select V910 or V920 for an external device and port forward settings. The ability to use a port range in the port forward settings. The ability to select other devices that are not defined in the source and destination selections for port forwarding and external devices. The ability to configure a card network and a retail network. New In Previous Release: ENHANCEMENTS System The setup is now digitally signed. Cisco ASA 5505 Router The VRCU now has the ability to configure the Cisco ASA 5505 router. The ASA 5505 router meets PCI requirements to provide firewall protection to segment the host network, the POS system, and the customer network. 4

5 VRCU Installation Obtaining the VRCU The VRCU software, along with full instructions for installing and using the VRCU, may be downloaded from the VeriFone Premier Web Connection at Petro Downloads > PC-Based Applications > VeriFone Router Configuration Utility. Installation Once downloaded, the executable installation file setup.exe is double-clicked to launch a Windows InstallShield Wizard that leads you through the installation step-by-step. Detailed instructions for installing the VRCU are in the VeriFone Router Configuration Utility Installation and Configuration Guide that may be downloaded from the VeriFone Premier Web Connection. Using the VRCU Before You Start Connecting The Router Before launching the VRCU for configuring the VeriFone Router you must have powered up the router and connected the router to your PC with either: The included Ethernet cable (yellow, with an RJ-45 connector on both ends) NOTE: Used only with the Cisco SOHO Router and the Cisco 851 Series Router. Or the included serial cable (blue, with an RJ-45 connector on one end and a DB-9 male connector on the other). Ethernet NOTE: Used only with the Cisco SOHO Router and the Cisco 851 Series Router. The yellow Ethernet cable goes from the Ethernet port on your PC to any of the four ports labeled ETHERNET 10/100 BASET COMPUTERS (E0) in yellow on the VeriFone Router. Serial The blue serial cable goes from the DB-9 female serial port on your PC to the port labeled CONSOLE in blue on the VeriFone Router. 5

6 IP Address Information The Cisco SOHO Router and the Cisco 851 Series Router will work with static IP addresses or with DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) IP addresses. The Cisco ASA 5505 Router works only with static IP addresses. Static IP addresses are fixed and must be manually entered. DHCP IP addresses are retrieved automatically from the host server. Static IP Address If the site is to have a static IP address, you will need to have the network settings ready for manual entry before starting to configure the VeriFone Router. DHCP If the site is to use DHCP, you will not need to have any preset IP address ready, but the IP address may only be obtained after the router is connected to the host network. Running the VRCU Launching The VRCU The VRCU may be launched in Windows from Start > Programs > VeriFone > VeriFone Cisco Router Configuration Utility. Actions The program starts with selection of the router type: Cisco ASA 5505 Router, Cisco SOHO 91, or Cisco 851 Series.
