The Bar provides the same nutrition as Soylent Drink, but in a lighter, more convenient form factor. Having fewer calories than the Drink or Powder, it makes a perfect snack to tide you over until your next meal. It can also serve as a small meal itself. Enjoying Soylent Bar Each Soylent Bar contains 1/8th of the recommended nutrients for a 2000 kcal diet in a solid form factor. The macronutrient breakdown is 38% calories from fat, 43% calories from carbohydrates, and 19% calories from protein. Tested glycemic index of the bar is rated at 55 (low). The vitamins and minerals in this formulation are designed to provide 100% daily values over 2000 calories or 8 bars. Here, we explore what s in Soylent Bar, where it comes from, and why it s included. Soy Protein Isolate (GE) Derived from soy, SPI is an excellent, high quality protein source. Soy has a protein digestibility of 1.0, the same as milk protein or eggs. Information about specific Amino Acids can be found on page 5. Corn Syrup (GE) This syrup acts as the binder for the dry ingredients as well as controls the texture of the bar. Rolled Oats Rolled oats contribute to the fat, carbohydrate as well as page 3

4 protein to the overall bar. They are also added to contribute to the texture of the bar. Canola Oil (GE) Source of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. A humectant is a substance used to reduce the loss of moisture. Glycerin Derived from a vegetable source, glycerin acts as a humectant to maintain the texture of the bar over time. Whole Algal Flour Flour made from whole algae organisms provides high oleic fats and carbohydrates. Use of algae flour increases supply chain sustainability. IMO Fiber Isomaltooligosaccharide is a prebiotic fiber, offering soluble fiber and promoting healthy gut bacteria. For comparison, glucose has a GI score of 100 and table sugar (sucrose) has a GI score of 58. Isomaltulose Derived from sugar beets, this slow digesting sugar has a GI score of 32, which brings the total GI Score of Soylent Bar to 55. Isomaltulose is also shown to be non-cariogenic (does not promote tooth decay). Maltodextrin Derived from corn starch, maltodextrin is produced through partial hydrolysis of corn starch using enzymes. It helps provide quick, digestible carbohydrates without increasing the viscosity of the product. Water Water contributes to the moisture content and helps during the ingredient mixing stage. Soy Lecithin (GE) This emulsifier allows oil to be mixed with water. Natural and Artificial Flavor These provide the distinct and delicious caramel flavor. Tapioca Starch This ingredient is found in the soy crisp, which also includes soy protein isolate and salt. The crisp is added as a protein source and to increase the textural experience of the bar. page 4

5 Updated July 2016 Sunflower Oil This is another source of high oleic oil. Modified Food Starch (GE) Sourced from corn, this starch is part of the creamer that helps to powder the oil. Sucralose An artificial sweetener that provide sweetness without adding sugar. It is 600 times sweeter than sugar. Each Bar contains 27 mg of sucralose. Mono & Diglycerides (GE) This corn-derived emulsifier allows oil to be mixed with water. Vitamins and Minerals Our blend accounts for 12.5% (1/8th) of the recommended daily intake of 25 vitamins and minerals in each bars. Protein Soy protein offers a robust amino acid profile, featuring all essential AA.
