Unauthorized reproduction of any portion of it may result in severe and criminal penalties and will be prosecuted to the maximum extent possible.
About Our Samples Our STAAR samples are provided to give teachers, tutors and instructors a feel for our layout, design and instruction techniques. Each sample starts with a teacher book lesson plan, followed by a student book practice test and exercise (if applicable) to reinforce the lesson. Our student practice tests follow the question guidelines and design as they will appear on the STAAR exam. As you can see on our website, the teacher books are separate from the student books. The samples are arranged in this way to show how they work in concert with one another. Our STAAR materials cover all the Reporting ategories and TEKS that will be covered on the actual exam. We also cover any Underlying Processes that may be applicable in a separate section, even though those underlying processes will also be embedded in the content throughout the teacher and student materials. We hope you enjoy the product, as it has been developed to help save teachers time and provide students with the knowledge and tools they will need to successfully challenge the STAAR exam. The TripleNterprises Educational Publishing Team
Texas STAAR Exam Lesson,.(A) Reporting ategory : Numbers, Operations, and Quantitative Reasoning (.) Number, operation, and quantitative reasoning. The student uses fractions in problem-solving situations. The student is expected to (A) generate a fraction equivalent to a given fraction such as / and / or / and /; Readiness Standard Say: Today we will learn how to use Equivalent fractions. Equivalent fractions are fractions that name the same amount. Use equivalent fractions to compare, add, or subtract fractions. To find equivalent fractions, multiply or divide the numerator and the denominator by the same nonzero number. Put LESSON SLIDE on white board / overhead Read lesson slide Say: Ok, now let's try another example with the class solving the problem. Note: over the answer and let the students suggest solutions. Provide assistance as needed. Put LESSON SLIDE on white board / overhead. Read lesson slide Say: Do STAAR practice. (A) & Logic / Manipulative.
LESSON SLIDE Lesson Equivalent Fractions Example. heck to see if and are equivalent fractions. Solution Strategy: You can create equivalent fractions by multiplying the numerator and denominator by the same amount. Fractions have two parts, the numerator (the top part), and the denominator (the bottom part). numerator denominator The common multiplier can also be used to test for equivalency. heck your results graphically by drawing two boxes with shaded portions to represent the fractions and then seeing if the areas are the same. =
LESSON SLIDE Lesson Equivalent Fractions continued Example : Use the same methods as in example to show that is also an equivalent fraction of and. Solution Strategy: You can check for equivalent fractions by the same methods used in example. Then since is an equivalent fraction of and. You can reason that and are also equivalent fractions. =
