2 BINGO Teacher Directions Get ready to sing your way to better spelling! This is a great literacy center or partner activity. Skills taught: Spelling and letter recognition. Time: 5 minutes. Materials: Bingo game board. Circular BINGO cut outs. Player directions: Place the circles on the farm mat so they say: BINGO. Sing the song BINGO, removing one of the letters after each verse. For instance, after singing, There was a farmer had a dog and Bingo was his name-o. B-I-N-G-O. B-I-N-G-O. B-I-N-G-O. And Bingo was his name-o. Remove the {B} so that the next verse you sing says, There was a farmer had a dog and Bingo was his name-o. (clap)-i-n-g-o. (clap)-i-n-g-o. (clap)-i-n-g-o. And Bingo was his name-o. Continue singing until all of the letters have been removed.

12 How Many Claps? Teacher Directions How many syllables are in each of these farm words? This is a great literacy center or small group activity. Skills taught: Phonemic awareness recognizing syllables. Time: 5 minutes. Materials: Barn game boards. (Clap One and Clap Two.) Animal card cutouts. Player directions: Pick up an animal card and read the word you see out loud. Put the card down and say the word again, clapping each time that you hear a syllable. You will hear a syllable every time that you say a vowel sound {a, e, i, o, u}. If you hear one syllable, lay the card on the barn marked 1 Clap. If you hear two syllables, lay the card on the barn that reads 2 Claps. Continue until you have sorted all of the cards into the correct spot.
