1 SAP Master Data Governance 8.0 SP03 on HANA 1.0 CUSTOMER MASTER DATA GOVERNANCE, MATERIAL DEMO EXPERIENCE: TYPICAL MDG MATERIAL PROCESSES

2 Background information You are acting as a business user in the logistics department. You are supposed to maintain material master data of an enhanced product line. Note: In this demo, when you log on with user mdg100-01, please replace ## specified in any data with 01. If you log on with user mdg100-02, replace ## with 02, and so on. You can use any user from mdg to mdg DEMO Scenario 1.1 Search for and change a material Your company is in the CD manufacturing business and has enhanced an existing product line. Before adding further products, you want to ensure that the main lab has enough capacity to ensure the quality of the new products. To do so, you want to move the Q-processes of the existing product line Demo CD to another Q- lab. Start your search in the Material work center. How many materials with a description containing Demo exist? Narrow down your search to materials whose ID starts with ACT. Change Material ACT-DCD-## and assign Laboratory 2 as the Lab/Office. Submit the change request and complete the approval process. You might want to trigger this activity directly from the search results. Review your change in the ERP backend using transaction MM03 (Display Material). 1.2 Search for material and trigger a copy Your company is in the CD manufacturing business and has enhanced an existing product line. Therefore, additional master data needs to be maintained to reflect the business in the ERP backend system. You now also want to manufacture Mini-CDs and therefore you need the correct labels Search for the CD labels Start your search in the Material work center. How many materials with a description containing label exist? 2

3 Narrow down your search to raw materials (ROH) - how many are there? Finally, you are only interested in CD labels of your group ## in the material group Note down the material IDs Copy an existing label to a new material Mini-CD Copy one of the materials to the new label for Mini-CDs (Material ID ACT-MCD-xx). Adjust the descriptions. Submit and approve the change request. 3

4 Demo Script 1.1 Search for and change a material Your company is in the CD manufacturing business and has enhanced an existing product line. Before adding further products, you want to ensure that the main lab has enough capacity to ensure the quality of the new products. To do so, you want to move the Q-processes of the existing product line Demo CD to another Q- lab Log on to MDG system Start SAP Logon and connect to the system ZME. Enter 800 in the Client field. Enter your user mdg100-## (e.g. mdg100-01) in the User field. Enter your password (the initial password is welcome). 4

5 1.1.2 Search for the Demo CD Start your search in the Material work center. You can reach MDG using transaction NWBC in the SAP GUI. The NetWeaver Business Client UI opens. If the Material Governance page is not active, click on Material Governance in the top row to display the MDG-M end-user UI: Alternatively, you can start the search using the menu on the left: Change Requests Material Processing Search Material. 5

6 Select the search attribute Description (medium text), and choose the relation operator contains. Enter Demo as the search attribute value for this field as shown below, and click the Search button. How many materials with a description containing Demo exist? 52 Narrow down your search to materials whose ID that starts with ACT. 6

7 1.1.3 Change material Click the hyperlink to navigate to the Material ACT-DCD-##. Switch to Edit mode: 7

8 Select the general change request type for exclusive single material processing: Process Material. Maintain the change request header data, and assign Laboratory 2 as the Lab/Office. Optionally, you can run a manual Check. Click Submit to submit the change request, and to complete the approval process. 8

9 For the activation step, you can refresh the change request to show the Activate / Reject action buttons, or you can navigate to Show My Change Requests, or you can go to your workflow inbox, which is shown below: 9

10 To start processing the workflow item, click the hyperlink, or use the Process Change Request button. From here, you can activate the change request. 10

11 Review your change in the ERP backend using transaction MM03 (Display Material). The changes by MDG are refelcted in the technical user name setup for communication from MDG to the backend (in this example, this is WF-BATCH). Use the menu path Environment Display Changes. 11

13 1.2 Search for material and trigger a copy Your company is in the CD manufacturing business and has enhanced an existing product line. Therefore, additional master data needs to be maintained to reflect the business in the ERP backend system. You now also want to manufacture Mini-CDs and therefore you need the correct labels Search for the CD labels Start your search in the Material work center. Select the search attribute Description (medium text), and choose the relation operator contains. Enter Label as the search attribute value for this field as shown below, and click the Search button. Increase the maximum number of search results (default is 100), and search again. How many materials with a description containing label exist? 131 Narrow down your search to raw materials (ROH) - how many are there? 131/70 Use the filter option of the search result list the result number remains unchanged because you only applied a filter, but the full list is still available. 13

14 Finally, you are only interested in CD labels of your group ## in the material group Add the additional search attribute Material Group by clicking the (+) button, and enter as the attribute value. Use the filter option to display your group ##. Note down the material IDs. ACT-BCD-##, ACT-LCD-## 14

15 1.2.2 Copy an existing label to a new material Mini-CD Copy one of the materials to the new label for Mini-CDs (Material ID ACT-MCD-xx). Adjust the descriptions. Submit and approve the change request. From the search result list shown above, select the record, and select the Copy button in the result list tool bar. The material template is filled with the selected material. Enter the new material ID in the Material field on the left, and, if necessary, select the appropriate change request type. Click Continue. Add and change the required fields. 15

16 Submit the change request. Go to you inbox or to My Change Requests, and approve the new material. 16
