1 THE FACULTY OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES AND LITERATURES GENERAL STRUCTURE OF DEGREE COURSES AND CREDIT ALLOCATION Following University reform in 1999, the student s workload commitment (attendance and personal study) is calculated in university study credits. In terms of time, 1 University Study Credit (cfu) is said to correspond to 25 hours of work, of which approx. 60% is personal study or other non-lecture activities. One ECTS credit is equivalent to one cfu. The workload for each of the three years of a course corresponds to approximately 60 cfu/ects credits. ECTS credits are therefore automatically allocated to each course. They are calculated in the same way as in many other European Universities and Institutions to guarantee maximum understanding of a student s individual commitment towards passing each exam. In this way, exchanges of students between the various Universities/Institutions is greatly facilitated.
