1 Coordinator of STEM Education Job Title: Coordinator of STEM Education Department: Education Services Reports to: Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Primary Purpose/Function: Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, the Coordinator of STEM Education is responsible for the development, delivery, implementation, and monitoring of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) curriculum, initiatives, and educational opportunities. The STEM coordinator will collaborate with stakeholders in education and the community to organize and promote interdisciplinary STEM activities that are aligned with content-area standards - including the Next Generation Science Standards and the Common Core standards - and with the goals of our learning community. The Coordinator of STEM Education is responsible for the implementation, oversight, and reporting requirements of a federal STEM grant. In addition, the STEM Coordinator is responsible for outreach to local community organizations, schools, and businesses to provide enhanced, experiential learning opportunities for all students. Duties and Responsibilities Ensure fidelity of implementation of grant through grant compliance oversight, and reporting Establish implementation goals and timeline for grants Assign responsibility for and maintain documentation for assigned grants Work with administration, guidance, and teaching staff, to develop/support programs to enhance parent involvement Design PD program for teachers in PBL(Project Based Learning), curriculum development, environmental sustainability; analyze outcomes to inform future PD Collaborate with the Data/STEM Facilitator in the development of magnet theme learning experiences. Assist in the development of STEM curriculum aligned with career pathways that ensure integration of academic and career technical education with 21 st century skills. Create educational opportunities for students through outreach to community and business resources. Organize, develop, coordinate and provide trainings for administrators and professional staff related to STEM best practices, NGSS Implementation, and Common Core Integration strategies and their integration into the classroom. Work effectively with school districts, community organizations, government agencies, parents, students, and/or staff. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.

2 Education and/or Experience: CT Teaching Certification Bachelor s degree in mathematics, science or engineering Master s degree with experience in career and technical education Administrative experience preferred Experience teaching STEM topics Job development/community outreach experience Knowledge and Skills Requirements: Strong technology experience and skills Familiarity with grant coordination/implementation Curriculum development in STEM areas Ability to provide professional development in STEM

3 Program Coordinator Magnet GENERAL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY The program coordinator will be responsible for organizing and implementing special projects. RELATIONSHIP WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION The program coordinator will report directly to the administrator(s) of the Development Department. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Act as a liaison between community, state, and federal entities and LEARN Provide communication between/among the involved partners Manage Grant awards and outcomes Write and/or coordinate Grant applications Attend meetings with/for the administrator Provide support and technical assistance to involved partners Facilitate and plan meetings Lead planning meetings Complete all federal, state, and local reporting requirements Interface with federal, state, local, business, and education officials Create and implement a marketing plan for projects Work collaboratively with marketing and recruitment efforts for magnet schools Communicate with public as appropriate DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING Excellent writing and organizational skills Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations Proven project management skills with state or federal programs Knowledge of and experience with community groups Proven experience in facilitating meetings and consensus decision making Knowledge and understanding of LEARN personnel policies and procedures Minimum of Bachelor s Degree I have read the above job description and am capable of performing the essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodations.

4 Arts and Technology Specialist General Scope of Responsibility: JOB DESCRIPTION Overall responsibility for the infusion of the arts and technology throughout all parameters of the school community. Relationship Within the Organization: The Arts and Technology Specialist will report to the Project Director and Principal and is responsible to the Principal. Specific Responsibilities: Collaborates and supports teachers, students, and other staff to develop an arts and technology-rich teaching and learning integration plan Plans, implements, and operates the video/audio production studio working with teachers and students on digital technology classroom integration Provides outreach to resident artists and plan educationally appropriate programming for students with local arts community into our school and arrange off-site visits as well Develops and manages arts, music, theater, and technology experiences for students Researches and recommends appropriate equipment and supplies to support and enhance the arts and technology program within the school Supports marketing, recruitment, and public relations Insures that project goals are achieved

5 Desirable Experience and Training: Required: Related experience in working with school staff and students, and an understanding of the learning process. Substantial skill levels in current technology and the spectrum of the arts. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Bachelor s Degree or an Associate s Degree with at least three years of related technical training and experience. 6 JOB DESCRIPTION Magnet Theme Coach Early Childhood Magnet School General Scope of Responsibilities The Theme Coach acts as a consultant, resource person, curriculum coordinator to support the work of teachers, enrich their professional development, support their relationships with families, and manage all aspects of student assessment, program evaluation and MSAP evaluation. Relationship within the Organization: The Magnet Theme Coach reports directly to the Director of Early Childhood Magnet School. Specific Responsibilities: Work with staff to analyze student data and develop instructional plans to address students developmental needs Work with teachers to document student work using a variety of different modalities Work with teachers to strengthen their ability to differentiate instruction Work directly with teachers in classrooms to implement highly effective and proven instructional practices. Design and implement professional development workshops and seminars for all staff based on data and evaluation Serve on the school s Leadership Team and provide expertise on all matters related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment Communicate with parents when necessary and facilitate meetings for parents on curriculum and instructional issues and topics Participate in regional curriculum activities upon request Organize and plan field trips to support curriculum and instruction. Complete all state and federal applications, paperwork, reports, and forms to meet the requirements for CSDE, USDOE, and other evaluations Perform other tasks as appropriately assigned by the Director of the Goodwin Early Childhood Magnet School Desirable Qualifications Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Strong background and interest in Reggio Emilia philosophy Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with adult learners Master s Degree (minimum) Highly Qualified Connecticut Certified Educator (112 or 113) Strong background in curriculum, assessment, and program evaluation Experience working with culturally, socially and economically diverse student/family populations
