What are the basic steps in a good skin care routine? The basic steps are cleansing, moisturising (hydration) and protecting. Men generally add shaving to this routine. Why is it important to wash my hands before applying Care products to my face? Hands and nails may carry bacteria and dirt, which can infect pores and cause pimples or skin reactions. Is it better to use facial aids such as a sponge instead of using my hands to wash my face? Not necessarily. Both provide surface friction, which removes dirt. Why shouldn t I clean my face with soap or bath soap? Some types of soap can be irritating to sensitive skin and may be too harsh in removing the necessary oils and lipids that aid the skin in moisture retention. How can I fight premature aging? Use a sunscreen to protect the skin from the damaging ultraviolet rays of the sun. Q & A My face gets red bumps all the time. I don t know if it is due to shaving. What causes this? Folliculitis (red bumps) or ingrown hair is inflammation primarily caused by shaving. Yes, although products were formulated especially for men and contain the T-10 complex and men s citrus fragrance. Most women will prefer ARTISTRY products. What kind of safety testing has been done on them? They have been dermatologically tested and allergy tested. They also tested to be non-comedogenic/acnegenic (won t clog pores). What is the T-10 complex found in Men s Care Line? The T-10 complex contains eight moisturising and two oil-control ingredients that support men s skin. The moisturisers are Glycerin, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Wheat Germ Lipids (Cephalins), Yeast Extract (Glycoproteins), Hops Extract, Chamomile Extract, and Aloe Vera Gel. The oil control ingredients are Lemon Extract and Cucumber Extract. Why aren t products hypoallergenic? There is no industry-accepted definition of hypoallergenic. However, products are allergy tested and dermatologically tested. Why do some products, despite extensive testing, still cause a skin reaction on some people? Can people with sensitive skin use products? No skin care product is guaranteed to be 100% irritation-free for everyone. All products are thoroughly tested for skin compatibility and safety, but there are always a small number of people who are sensitive to certain ingredients. Otherwise, the products are considered completely safe. Just as some people are allergic to pets or dust, others are allergic to common cosmetic ingredients. Which Sun Protection Factor does the Protective Lotion contain? Protective Lotion contains SPF 15 sunscreen to help protect skin from damage and premature aging caused by UVA/UVB rays. Why do people with oily skin still need a moisturiser? Oily skin is under the control of the sebaceous glands and is independent of the moisture content of the skin. Sebum lubricates the skin but is not particularly efficient in aiding moisture retention. Moisture content is under the control of the epidermis and in particular the stratum corneum. An individual with oily skin may have both excess oil and low moisture content, and would require a moisturiser. Can I use products around my eyes? We would only recommend the Protective Lotion in the areas below the eye and near the crow s feet. None of the products should be applied directly onto the eyelid or into the eye itself. When and in which order should I use products? The first three products (Facial Cleansing Foam, Shave Gel, After Shave Splash) are meant to be used as part of a daily shaving regimen. They are followed by the use of Protective Lotion. At night, cleanse, tone and follow with the Protective Lotion. All are proven to be gentle when used together. Is there any difference in order of using the products between an electric razor and a manual razor? The order is the same but with electric razor, you may apply the After Shave Splash before you apply the Shave Gel for Shaving. Whereas with a manual razor, application of After Shave Splash prior to shave is optional. If I have bad sunburn, can I use product? Generally, we do not recommend that any cosmetic product be used on bad sunburn. Products should only be used after inflammation has subsided. What is the shelf life of these products? The shelf life of the products is three years unopened and two years after opening and initial use. What is the targeted age group for this product?
