1 POHJOLAN VOIMA COMBINES RESOURCES
2 POHJOLAN VOIMA COMBINES RESOURCES Pohjolan Voima s joint resources increase our customers competitive advantage through providing efficient and innovative energy services skilfully, boldly, together. Our priorities are hydropower, thermal power and nuclear power.
3 Pohjolan Voima s shareholders are also its customers: a wide range of Finnish industrial and energy companies. We deliver electricity and heat at cost price, helping secure the success of our customers. Our operations create jobs and wellbeing for society as a whole. We provide efficient and innovative energy services for our customers. The services combine the strong resources and solid expertise of our shareholders, the company, and our networks. Our energy services are the result of our comprehensive power plant ownership and energy delivery operations. We manage our power plants in a responsible manner throughout their operational lives. We identify and prepare projects, design, build, own, operate and maintain power plants and, when they reach the end of their operational life, we decommission them. Our efficiency and expertise is best demonstrated in largescale projects. We focus on hydropower, thermal power and nuclear power, and are determined to increase the proportion of low-emission production capacity. Our expertise is built on long experience and our ability to utilise the resources of our extensive networks. We seek and implement innovative energy solutions for tomorrow s challenges. Examples of our pioneering operations include the Jumisko tunnel hydropower plant, our extensive bioenergy programme, the biogasifier operated by our associate company Vaskiluodon Voima, the safe and reliable Olkiluoto nuclear power plant units and our investments in the development of biocoal to replace coal. Our determined investment policy will increase the proportion of carbon-free production to 90 per cent within a few years. Since the turn of the millennium, we have invested a total of 4 billion euros in carbon-free production capacity. More than 1.5 billion euros of this has been directed at renewable energy sources. As a joint resources operator, we believe in open interaction and shared goals in our management, operations, stakeholder relations and social discourse in accordance with our values skilfully, boldly, together.
