1 2 nd Grade Classroom Procedures

2 Morning Arrival Greet the teacher. Unpack your bookbag and place it on your hook. Select your lunch choice and deposit any lunch money in your plastic bag and then in the lunch envelope. Copy your homework into your agenda book. Complete your morning work. Use quiet voices, please. Get ready for a fantastic day of quality teaching and learning!

3 Homework Copy your homework in your assignment book exactly as it appears on the board. Completely finish all homework assignments. Read for 20 minutes, write the title of your book in your Reading Log, and have a parent sign your Assignment Book EVERY night.

4 Restroom Procedures Avoid using the restroom during Instruction. You must make eye contact and show the restroom sign. Mrs. Branham will give you permission to visit the restroom. You must always go to the hall restroom with a friend. Be quick, be clean, and be quiet. Don t forget to wash your hands.

5 Pencils Make sure you have a sharpened pencil each morning. If your pencil breaks, do not sharpen it. Place the broken pencil in the broken pencil container and choose a new one from the sharpened pencil container.

6 Teacher Instruction Always give your full attention - Listening with your eyes, ears, and heart. Ask questions when appropriate. Stay seated the entire time. Always use your Personal Best Effort and all of your Lifeskills.

7 Independent Work Keep your hands to yourself and your eyes on your own work. Raise your hand if you have any questions. If you finish early, choose something to do from the Extra Time Procedures.

8 Desk Area Keep your materials neat and organized. Have a sharpened pencil ready. After completing an art project, make sure you pick up in paper off of the floor around your desk and place it in the trashcan or recycling bin. Always keep a book to read in your desk.

9 Discarding Trash You may throw away trash at any time except during Instruction. Decide if your trash can be recycled or needs to be placed in the trashcan. Please walk to the trashcan or the recycling bin. Place your trash in the can or the bin and make sure it has gone in the container and not on the floor. Return quietly to your seat without disturbing others.

10 Making Lines Wait until you are called to join the line. Push your chair under your desk and walk quietly to the line. Face the front of the line. Keep your hands and feet to yourself. Stay absolutely quiet.

11 Hallway Procedures Face the front of the line. Keep your hands and feet to yourself. Stay on the right side of the hallway. Walk in the second row of tiles. Remain quiet so that others may learn.

12 Eating Lunch Walk into the cafeteria with no talking. If you brought your lunch, you may go to the table when signaled. If you are buying lunch, stand quietly in line. Get all lunch items the first time through before you take your seat. Use a whisper voice to talk to a friend. Use your Personal Best manners. When signaled, collect all trash and follow the line to the trash cans. Put lunch trays on the counter. Walk to the class line with no talking.

13 Extra Time When your work is finished, you may choose one of the following: Read a book. Write in your journal. Ask permission to go to the Media Center or take a Reading Counts test.

14 Silent Reading Choose a book that is your Lexile level. Read quietly to yourself. If you need to take a Reading Counts test or go to the Media Center, place your sailboat in the correct column on the board and wait patiently to be called on.

15 Dry Erase Boards Dry erase boards are only used during instruction. Do not use your marker on anything other than your slate. Your sock is used for erasing your slate and holding your marker.

16 Friendship Circle Come to the floor when your Learning Club is called. Only bring your listening ears, watchful eyes, and caring heart with you when you are called to the floor. Find a place on the floor in a circle. Sit comfortably in your own personal space. Remember to use the Lifelong Guidelines and LIFESKILLS throughout Friendship Circle.

17 Telephone If the telephone rings during class, please stay quiet while the teacher answers the phone. You may read SILENTLY, write in your journal, or put your head down. Thank you for waiting patiently.

18 When Company Visits Use your LIFESKILLS and be polite. Our classroom greeter will welcome a visitor. Continue to work, read, study, or wait quietly. Stay in your seat at all times. Please do not interrupt your teacher s conversation with the visitor.

19 Emergency Procedures Quietly and quickly line up. Last one out of the classroom turns off the light and closes the door. ABSOLUTELY NO TALKING. Keep your eyes on your teacher and stay with your class. Wait for an all clear signal from your teacher. Walk back to class calmly and quietly.

20 End of the Day Get out your green folder, binder and any other materials needed to take home. Wait for your Learning Club to be called to pack up your bookbag. Listen quietly to the afternoon announcements. Walk quietly to the line when called. No talking.
