3 Introduce to PowerPoint 2010 Microsoft PowerPoint is the ubiquitous tool to aid a speaker during a presentation in front of a live audience. Each PowerPoint file is the combination of 35-milimeter slides with added text, graphics, photos, and even video in order to help speakers present their ideas to the audience Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 includes many features which not only allow creating and editing presentations but also to enhance the appearance of the slide show. In addition, PowerPoint let presenters save their presentations to the Web, broadcasting them to the audience around the Internet as well as convert them to variety of formats to share with others such as video, PDF, and even HTML. 4 Understand the Ribbon in PowerPoint 2010 The Ribbon is designed as the child of menus and icons that replaces a long list of menus and assortment of toolbars and icons in the PowerPoint 2003 PowerPoint 2010 features are arranged in the tabs at the top of the Ribbon The Home tab contains nearly every command used on a frequent basis based on the study of users habit by Microsoft Some commands feature a pull-down menu to easily find additional options, information and settings showing in what is called Gallery Many options on the Ribbon provides a LivePreview giving a preview of what changes will look like before committing in the slides Use the Office Ribbon The Ribbon stretches across the top of the work area in PowerPoint It displays groups of related commands in separate tabs. Home tab - contains clipboard, slides, font, paragraph, drawing and editing groups. Insert tab - contains tables, images, illustrations, links, text, symbols and media groups. Design tab - contains page setup, themes and background groups Lasted Edited:
5 Transitions tab - contains preview, transition to this slide and timing groups Animations tab - contains preview, animation, advanced animation and timing groups Slide Show tab - contains start slide show, set up and monitors groups Review tab - contains proofing, language, comments and compare groups View tab - contains presentation views, master views, show, zoom, color/gray scale, windows and macros groups Minimize/Maximize the Ribbon Do one of the following: Double click on any tab of the Ribbon Click on the Maximize-Minimize button found on the far right next to Help question mark Lasted Edited:
6 Manage your presentation with Backstage Backstage allows saving and opening presentations, starting a new presentation, reviewing information about the current presentation, sharing presentation files with others and much more Backstage can help to personalize PowerPoint 2010 through the Options command found at the bottom of the Backstage menu Modify Proofing Settings (AutoCorrect options, Spellcheck and more) Change default Save format and location where files are saved Change Language Customize Ribbon Customize Quick Access Toolbar Add third-party programs into PowerPoint Use the Trust Center to activate macros Change security setting for PowerPoint 2010 Lasted Edited:

8 Switch to different views in PowerPoint There are several ways to customize the view of PowerPoint and most of the options to control the PowerPoint Interface are in the View tab of the Ribbon The Presentation Views group gives four ways to work with or view the current presentation Normal view the main editing view allows writing and designing the presentation Slide Sorter view the view of slides in thumbnail form makes the presentation to easier sort and organize the sequence of the slides Notes Page view the layout of an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper that each slide gets its own page Reading view the full screen display of the presentation that give a Status Bar along the bottom with a variety of controls (rarely used) Lasted Edited:
9 The Master Views group provides the view of main slides including information of the presentation such as background, color, fonts, effects, placeholder sizes and position The Show group provides options to turn on /off three visual helpers The Zoom group provides a feature to zoom in/out the presentation to edit it, and this feature has no effect on what the audience sees. To easily zoom in/out the presentation, use the Zoom Slider under the right corner of the Status Bar Lasted Edited:

11 Customize Ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar The Ribbon that replaced menus and toolbars from Office 2003 can be customized to suit users needs. Customizing the Office Ribbon allows users to create most frequently used tabs with favorite features as well as most commonly used commands placed on the Quick Access Toolbar Customize Quick Access Toolbar To add most frequently used commands on the Quick Access Toolbar, do one of the following: Click the down arrow on the Quick Access Toolbar and select commands from the drop down list of the Customize Quick Access Toolbar Right click on any command under command tabs click Add to Quick Access Toolbar Lasted Edited:
12 If the commands are not listed in Customize Quick Access Toolbar drop down menu, Choose More Commands from the drop down menu In the PowerPoint Options dialog box, select desired commands click Add button To remove commands on the Quick Access Toolbar, right click on the command click Remove from Quick Access Toolbar Lasted Edited:
13 Customize the Ribbon Right click anywhere on the Ribbon choose Customize the Ribbon In the PowerPoint Options dialog box, do any of the following: To remove a tab on the Ribbon, under Main Tabs section, right click the name of the tab to remove choose Remove To change the order of the tabs on the Ribbon, under the Main Tabs section, select the tab to move click the up/down arrow button To create a new group under an existing tab on the Ribbon, click New Group and do the following Click Rename to name the new group Select desired command from the commands list Click Add to add those commands to the custom new group Click OK To create a new tab on the Ribbon, click New Tab and do the following: Click Rename to name the new tab Select desired command from the commands list Click Add to add those commands to the custom new tab Click OK To reset the Ribbon to the default setting, under Customization, click Reset choose Reset all customizations click OK Lasted Edited:
