Survey Methodology Survey Time Dec. 01,2006 to Jan. 15, 2007 Sample Number Target Population Survey Method Sampling Method 3,199 valid samples Residents in age 12 and above 7,357,982 households in 23 Cities/Counties in. *Demographic information based on 2006 Monthly Demographic Statistics Report, Ministry of Interior. Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing Survey A stratified simple random sampling was used by separating the population elements into stratum of the 23 cities/counties in. The sample size of each strata was determined by using the Neyman allocation method Method for Estimating the Total Number of Internet users: Three variables, cities/areas, gender and age groups are used for weighting the random stratified samples of interviewees age 12 and above in. Estimation Method (The sample is based upon a total of 19,578,963 residents. The demographic data is released by the Ministry of Interior in Oct 2006.) Method for Estimating the Total Number of Internet Household: Two Variable cities/areas and the number of members in the household are used for weighting the random stratified samples. Estimated Population and Penetration Rate of Internet Users (1) 1.96 million residents in age under 12 have experiences of using the Internet; while million residents in age 12 and above have experiences of using the Internet. The estimate is that million residents of all ages have experiences using the Internet in. 6 2. (5) Region wise, the percentages of Internet users are 83.96% (1. 92 million) for Taipei City and 76.63% (1.00 million) for Kaohsiung City respectively.
