2 1. Join Meijo Summer School 2015 Meijo University will hold a two-week summer program in 2015 which has been designed for students who are studying at our current, and future, partner universities. This program offers participants an opportunity to learn about the industry and culture of central Japan, specifically, the Chubu area. This central region, where Meijo University is located, is the center of automotive technology and industry, most famously represented by Toyota Motor Corporation. Students will learn how Toyota has become a successful global company in both the automobile and manufacturing industry. In addition, students will explore and experience local Japanese culture, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of the Chubu region and all that it has to offer. We hope that you will join us for a rich and fulfilling summer experience. 2. Meijo University Meijo University, which will celebrate its centennial in 2026, is engaged in nurturing capable and reliable young adults, training each student to be self-motivated to succeed, while also taking full advantage of Meijo s traditions and record of achievement. As one of the foremost comprehensive universities in the Chubu region of central Japan, Meijo University comprises 8 faculties with 23 departments and 11 graduate schools covering a wide range of academic fields from the humanities and sciences. As a comprehensive university always ahead of its time and open to the world, Meijo University is pressing ahead with internationalization by admitting foreign students and invited researchers as well as forming academic partnerships with overseas universities and institutions. We are keeping abreast of trends in internationalization and incorporating these into our educational reforms.

Program Rules In order to provide a quality summer school experience for all, each participant is expected to adhere to the following rules for the program and Meijo University: 1. Be prepared and on time for all scheduled activities. 2. Cooperate completely with coordinators, guides, professors, instructors and staff in regards to students participation in the program and staying in Japan. 3. Obey the laws of Japan and the city of Nagoya, and follow all Meijo University rules. 4. Absolutely no underage drinking, smoking, and purchasing or using illegal drugs. 5. Participants are responsible for their own personal belongings, clothes and money. 6. Do not drive a motorized vehicle of any kind. 7. Independent travelling or touring is not allowed during the program without the consent of Meijo staff. 8. Follow the policies of Meijo University. 9. Have health insurance that provides adequate coverage for any injuries or illness that you may sustain or experience during this program. 7. One part of this is providing support for improving foreign language skills and cultivating a global point of view in students and educators who go out into the world from Meijo University. The office arranges a variety of academic foreign-study programs and provides backing for academic exchange and other research opportunities. Another function of the OIA is to provide assistance for around 300 foreign students from around the world. The OIA provides support to enable them to live life in Japan in a way that is safe and conducive to learning. These two areas of endeavour drive Meijo University s promotion of internationalization.
