5 COURSE INFORMATION (Registration) Exchange students will be required to maintain a full- time course load. For undergraduate students, that means they must be enrolled in a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours. Graduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of nine (9) credit hours. However, should graduate students wish to enroll in more than nine (9) credit hours, they will be responsible for covering the tuition costs of those additional hours. To search courses available at WKU please see the website below. HEALTH INSURANCE All exchange students are required to purchase the WKU- approved comprehensive health insurance. Students are automatically enrolled in the plan, which will provide health care coverage for the duration of their program. In order for students to maintain their legal status, they must pay for the required health insurance by no later than the last Friday of the first week of classes. The cost of the insurance is approximately $840 US/semester. ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSES Students who wish to further develop their English- language skills have several options available to them. WKU offers DENG 051, a course designed to give non- native English speakers intensive practice in the four major language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. DENG 051 would count toward the student s minimum credit hours. HOUSING Students may live either on- or off- campus. Double- and single- occupancy rooms are available in WKU residence halls, however, the number of single rooms are limited. Students wishing to live on- campus need to apply for housing through WKU s Office of Housing and Residence Life. Student s choosing to live off- campus will need to make their own arrangements. Our office does not facilitate off- campus housing. TRANSPORTATION WKU s Department of Parking and Transportation Services provides both on- and off- campus transportation at no charge to WKU students, faculty, staff and visitors. Go BG Transit offers five fixed- route bus services that run throughout the city of Bowling Green and are available to the public. WKU students who purchase Go BG Shuttle semester passes through the Department of Parking and Transportation Services will pay only $10 for semester- long service. COST OF LIVING All expenses listed below are estimates for one semester of studies at WKU based on exchange student costs for the academic year. Variables like housing, travel, food, entertainment, etc. cannot be pre- determined with exact figures. Additionally, WKU tuition and housing costs have not yet been set for academic year.
