4 Hilti Firestop Bandage CFS-B Installation instructions Clean the opening. The material around the opening must be dry, in sound condition and free from dust or grease. Cut Hilti Firestop Bandage CFS-B to fit the outside diameter of the insulation. Ensure 2 layers and an overlap. Wrap Hilti Firestop Bandage CFS-B around the insulation. Secure the bandage with steel bands or wire ( 0.7 mm). Install Hilti Firestop Bandage CFS-B on both sides of the opening to a depth of 62.5 mm (see marking on bandage). Close the remaining gap with the recommend gap filler. Refer to each base material for the correct filler. If it is necessary, an additional insulation over the bandage has to be installed. Mount the installation identification plate beside the correctly sealed opening, if required. 5 General Information The intended use of Hilti Firestop Bandage CFS-B is to reinstate the fire resistance performance of flexible walls, rigid walls and rigid floor constructions penetrated by various insulated metallic pipes. Single penetration seal The Hilti Firestop Bandage CFS-B is mounted on both sides of the penetration. The Hilti Firestop Bandage CFS-B is pushed into the penetration in line with the designated marking shown on the midsize of the Hilti Firestop Bandage CFS-B. On 100mm thick walls the Hilti Firestop Bandage CFS-B is placed with a distance of approximately 5mm from each other. Plasterboard wall Rigid wall Rigid Floor Pipe support Pipes are fastened on walls at a distance of maximum 450 mm from the wall and on floors the first support is installed at a maximum distance of 330 mm from the surface. Pipe insulation with combustible elastomeric material and mineral wool Elastomeric combustible insulation Elastomeric material thickness ranges from 7.5 mm up to 45 mm in continued sustained configuration. 6 Additional protection Additional insulation material (AP) is utilised for some applications and comprises the following: AP1: Armaflex AF elastomeric material for thermal insulation, 19 mm thick and 250 mm in length, local interrupted configuration. AP2: Mineral wool, Rockwool Klimarock, 40 mm thick, 250 mm or 500mm in length; density approximately 40 kg/m³, local interrupted configuration. AP3: Beading is applied by adding 13mm or 16mm thick fire rated plasterboard fixed with drywall screws on both sides of the wall. The plasterboard strips around the pipe are at least 50mm in width. Final penetration seal thickness is at least 150mm thick. Zero distances Clearance is 0 mm to each other for insulated pipes wrapped in CFS-B bandage. The distance to pipes firestopped with bandage in linear configuration (S 1 ) is 0 mm. The same applies for the distance to other clusters S 2 where the distance is also 0 mm. 7 Annular gap The following materials may be used to fill the annular space. In plasterboard walls the gap seal is installed to a depth of the wall linnings, for rigid walls and floors the gap seal is installed to the full depth. Refer to the table below for maxiumum gap size. 8 Apature beading for walls and floors The supporting construction is required to be minmum 100mm thick for walls and minimum 150mm thick for floors. For walls or floors with a thickness of less than these values a beading shall be used. Beading: 13mm or 16mm fire rated plasterboard strips at least 100mm wide (W A ) are installed around the opening with the necessary number of layers to form a frame on the top side of a floor, or two of the same height on both sides of a wall. 10 Rigid Wall Penetrations The walls must be tested or otherwise assessed in accordance with AS for the required fire resistance period. The bare wall must have a minimum thickness of 75mm and comprise of concrete, aerated concrete, Speedpanel panel, Speedwall panel, or hollow nasonry with a minimum density of 550 kg/m 3. If the bare wall is less than 100mm thick build-up shall be applied such that t E 100mm.
