for Beautiful from the Convenient oral preparation designed to help lighten and fade away brown spots in the skin caused by the aging effects of the sun. EPIDERMIS DERMIS Hythiol-C Hythiol-C combines the natural amino acid cysteine with vitamin C and vitamin B 5. has been used safely in Japan for over 30 years, and is now available in North America.
Stop Tolerating Unsightly Brown Spots on Your Skin Finally, there is an alternative to the application of messy creams and solutions day after day after day. Hythiol-C tablets were developed to provide a convenient, inside-out solution to this common skin problem. The way in which the ingredients of Hythiol-C cause fading of brown discolorations to restore natural skin beauty is described below. What Causes Brown Spots? The top layer of skin is called the epidermis, and consists mainly of epidermal cells. These cells are produced at the base of the epidermis and go through a life cycle in which they change shape and character as they move up to the outer surface of the skin (Scheme 1). Near the surface, they flatten out, die, and form a tough outer layer of keratin. The final step in the process is the shedding of the dead, keratinized cells as flakes of skin. The whole process from the creation of a new cell at the base to the shedding at the surface takes about 40 days. EPIDERMIS NEW CELL SURFACE MELANIN GRANULE from MELANOCYTE CELLS The color of skin comes from tiny granules of a pigment called melanin in the epidermal cells. The melanin granules are produced by special cells called melanocytes at the base of the epidermis, and are distributed to neighboring epidermal cells. The difference in skin color between the races is caused by a difference in the amount of melanin in the epidermal cells. Although the melanocytes constantly produce melanin granules, the skin color of an individual remains the same because granules are continually lost by the shedding of dead epidermal cells from the skin surface. UV rays from the sun cause an increase in the production of melanin, and a change in the melanin already present. This results in a general darkening of skin color, producing a "sun tan". BASE OF EPIDERMIS SCHEME 1. Migration to surface and shedding of epidermal cells. Prolonged exposure to the sun over many years can damage melanocytes in localized areas, and these altered cells produce excessive amounts of melanin. This is the most common cause of brown spots on the skin, which are known as solar lentigines (freckles, age spots, liver spots). They appear most frequently on
the face and back of the hands, which are the parts of the body that normally receive the greatest exposure to sun. Dark areas on the skin can also be caused by a wide variety of other factors, including physical damage (acne, wounds, etc.), hormone changes during pregnancy, side effects of some prescription drugs, and certain types of skin cancer. If there is any uncertainty about the identity of a dark area on the skin, a doctor should be consulted. (See "Common Sense Precautions".) How Does Hythiol-C Work? The natural amino acid L-cysteine in Hythiol-C interferes with the biochemical processes that produce melanin, and acts as a brake on the excessive production of melanin by overactive melanocytes. The vitamin C in Hythiol-C also interferes with melanin production. The excess melanin pigment already present in the epidermal cells of the brown spot is gradually and naturally eliminated by the migration of cells to the skin surface and subsequent shedding (Scheme 1). This turnover process depends on healthy skin metabolism. The ingredients in Hythiol-C are important factors in the metabolic processes of skin. In addition to fading the brown spots in skin, Hythiol-C can improve the appearance of the skin in other ways. Exposure to the sun and other environmental factors causes damage to collagen fibers, which give the skin its strength, elasticity, and smoothness. The vitamin C in Hythiol-C stimulates the synthesis of collagen fibers. Other Benefits of Hythiol-C You may find that the use of Hythiol-C for fading skin spots improves energy levels and a general feeling of well being. This is because the L-cysteine in Hythiol-C stimulates the action of the liver. Animal studies have shown that supplemental administration of L-cysteine improves the elimination of toxic chemicals and heavy metals. Be Patient The ingredients in Hythiol-C are natural compounds found in the body, and cause the fading of brown spots by modifying natural body processes. These processes take time. Based on the results of a clinical trial in Japan involving women in their 20's and 30's, many people will see an improvement in their appearance in one month, and the majority will see a definite improvement after two months.
Product Information Common Sense Precautions 1. A dark spot on the skin could be caused by a very dangerous form of skin cancer called melanoma. Melanomas are the most malignant of skin cancers, and can spread to other parts of the body and cause death. Consult a doctor about any suspicious looking brown or black discoloration. 2. Hythiol-C puts a brake on over-production of melanin. UV rays from the sun accelerate melanin production. In order to get the full benefit from Hythiol-C, it is important to avoid exposure to sunlight by using a sunscreen or wearing protective clothing. Active Ingredients L-Cysteine is an amino acid that occurs naturally in the body and is important in the formation of sulfur-containing enzymes which are essential for normal metabolic processes. It interferes with the formation of the skin pigment melanin. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals, which cause damage to DNA and other vital biochemicals. Free radicals are believed to be responsible for aging and many disease processes. Vitamin C interferes with the formation of the skin pigment melanin, and stimulates the formation of collagen fibers, which maintain the smoothness and elasticity of skin. Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5, supplied as calcium pantothenate) is an essential vitamin for the biosynthesis of coenzyme A, which plays a major role in the body's metabolic cycles. Recommended Dose For adults 19 years and older, take two tablets with water up to 3 times per day, giving a total of 6 tablets per day. Active Ingredients in One Adult Daily Dose (6 tablets) L-Cysteine mg Vitamin C mg Calcium pantothenate (Vitamin B5) mg
Side Effects A reaction to the natural active ingredients in Hythiol-C is very unlikely, especially at the recommended dose. In rare cases, rash, nausea, or diarrhea may be observed. Significant interaction with medications is not expected at the recommended dose. For patients taking prescription drugs, however, it is always wise to consult a physician. Manufacturer Hythiol-C is made in Japan by SSP Co., Ltd. SSP is a well established manufacturer and marketer of prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical products. Distributor In North America, Hythiol-C is distributed by Ashbury Biologicals, Inc., Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Contact: ashbury@dalton.com
