2 1 Welcome Thank you for choosing a Toys R Us product. The Swinging Crib is carefully designed for baby s safety and features a drape rod and a lock to prevent the crib from rocking when required. To ensure safe, trouble free use, please take a little time to read the important safety notes below and the following instructions. 2 Safety notes Ensure that the crib is used on a horizontal floor. Do not allow young children to play unsupervised in the vicinity of the crib. WARNING: Ensure the crib is in the locked position when leaving a child unsupervised in it. Do not use the crib if any part is broken, torn or missing and use only spare parts approved by Babies R Us. Do not use other parts as they may render the crib unsafe. When the child is able to sit, kneel or to pull itself up, the crib shall not be used anymore for this child. All assembly fittings should always be tightened properly and care should be taken that no screws are loose, because a child could trap parts of the body, or clothing (e.g. strings, necklaces, ribbon for babies, dummies), which could pose a risk of suffocation and strangulation. Do not use the body of the crib without its frame. The crib is suitable for a mattress of 88.5 cm x 39.5 cm. The thickness of the mattress to be used shall not reduce the internal vertical height above it to less than 200 mm. Be aware of the risk of open fires and other sources of strong heat, such as electric bar fires, gas fires, etc. in the near vicinity of the crib. In the case of assembly difficulties, missing parts or other queries, please contact your nearest Babies R Us store. After assembly, please dispose of all packaging carefully. Medium sized cross head and flat bladded screwdrivers are required for assembly. The help of an assistant will make assembly easier. 4 4 Crib body assembly 1. Attach the crib sides to one end using four long bolts, four barrel nuts and the allen key. 2. Slide the base into the slots in the sides 3. Attach the other crib end using four more long bolts and four barrel nuts. 4. Tighten the bolts securely. 5 Swing lock fitting 1. Fit the lock mechanism into the hole in one of the uprights and secure using the two lock screws as shown below. 2. Once securely attached, push the lock handle onto the end of the lock until it clicks into place. 2 1 Page 3

5 6 Frame assembly 1. Attach the feet to the uprights using the four short bolts, and tighten securely. 2. Push the four barrel nuts into the large holes in the crossbar as shown below. Ensure the holes in the barrel nuts point towards the holes in the ends. If they don t, use a screwdriver to turn them. 3. Attach the uprights to the crossbar using four long bolts Page 4

6 7 Positioning the crib body in the frame The method of attaching the crib body to the frame is shown in section 9. Before attaching the crib body, turn it so the hole in the end panel for the lock to engage into is at the same end as the lock on the frame. Position the crib body between the uprights and support it while it is attached to the frame. Assistance at this stage will make assembly much easier. note 8 Drape rod Decide now if you wish to fit the drape rod. If not, put the drape rod and screw somewhere safe and proceed to section 9. If you do wish to fit the drape rod, take note of how it fits onto the frame upright without the lock, shown in the diagram below. Upright without lock Drape rod Crib end Page 5

7 9 Attaching the crib body to the frame 1. Pass one pivot bolt through the holes in the uprights from the outside face. 2. Fit the drape rod to the upright without the lock at this point if using. 3. Slide a metal washer onto the long bolt on the inside face of each upright. 4. Fit spacer to the outside face of the crib end panels Position the crib body between the uprights and push the pivot bolt through. 6. Secure the crib body by sliding in place the metal tubes and screwing T-nuts onto the ends of the pivot bolt from the inside of the crib ends. 7. Using the allen key, tighten the T-nuts to secure the crib body. Store the allen keys safely as they may be required to tighten fittings occasionally. 6 5 Crib end 6 Page 6

8 10 Using the lock To operate the lock, twist the lock handle a quarter turn in either direction to release. The lock will engage in the small slot in the bottom of the crib side and prevent it swinging. To unlock the crib and allow it to swing, pull the lock handle outwards and twist it a quarter turn to the left or right. 11 Care & maintainance Regularly check the tightness of bolts and tighten as necessary. Check for damage which could render your crib unsafe or cause splinters. To clean use a damp cloth, avoiding the use of strong detergents or abrasives.
