3 Introduction Welcome to the new Rochdale Borough Drug and Alcohol Treatment and Recovery Support Services. This booklet provides information on services available within the borough. There s lots of help on offer for drug and alcohol users and also plenty of support for family, friends and loved ones who are concerned about a person s substance misuse. A full range of support is offered, in various venues, throughout the townships of the borough. In this booklet you will find information about the many types of help and support available, as well as needle exchange locations. The first point of contact for all services is Renaissance (full details next page) whose workers will assess and direct individuals to the service that is most appropriate to their needs. As well as advice, information, medical care, counselling, structured support and group work there are a range of complimentary therapies available, such as acupressure, for relieving withdrawal symptoms. If needed, services can also signpost people to other support services to help them with such things as housing, training and employment. All these services are designed to give people in the borough the best chance to live their lives substance free. 3
