2 A student may compete During 4 s of competition In the NAIA, students are permitted to compete during four s of competition. We look at s of competition as one long beginning August 1 and running through May 15. We do not break them up into s as other associations do. 3 A student is charged with a One One race One pitch One play second For participation in at least one intercollegiate contest Competing at all during one of those s is enough to charge the student with a of competition, whether it is one second of a basketball game, one play of a football game, one pitch, one race, or one match. Any of those things are enough to constitute one of competition. In sports that compete traditionally in the spring (softball, baseball, tennis, golf and field & track) if the student participates in an event, one tournament, one match, one pitch during the fall, that is enough to constitute a at the NAIA. 4 A student is charged with a Varsity Junior varsity Freshman Regardless of the level of play It is important to remember under s of competition that it does not make a difference at what level the student is competing. Many institutions have junior varsity programs in some sports. Varsity, junior varsity and freshman programs, all count the same in regard to s of competition. 5 Terms of Attendance A student may compete 9th 10th 7th 8th 5th 6th During the first 10 s/15 quarters. Any term (excluding summer sessions) in which the student becomes identified at a single institution. Students are permitted to compete during those four s, but those four s must occur during the student s first 10 s or 15 quarters of attendance. Any term in which a student identifies at an institution is considered a term toward one of the 10 s or 15 quarters. Please note that summer terms and mini terms, do not count.. It is important to note how we define the term identification. There are two ways for a student to identify. First is by playing in a contest against another team. The second way a student identifies is by enrolling in 12 hours and attending 1 class. No subsequent action by the student or the institution can change identification. This is true even when the student withdraws after attending the class, and the institution s transcript does not show the student enrolled during that term.
