7 Handbook Overview ² Objectives of the student teaching experience ² To be immersed in teaching experiences that allow for a smooth transition from the role of a student at Texas A&M University to the role of a classroom teacher. ² To observe the behavior and learning styles of students in a world of diverse cultures and expectations. ² To develop high levels of teaching competence through guided teaching experience. ² To engage in self-evaluation and professional goal setting. ² To be of mutual assistance to the cooperating school and the teacher preparation program by establishing cooperative relationships through open communication and the pursuit of common goals.
