1 Day 2 Directions Corydon to French Lick and West Baden Springs. 107 miles. Elevation gain/loss: 6515 feet. Today we will be touring the backroads of Orange, Crawford and Harrison counties. Our destination today is the community of French Lick and West Baden Springs. Both the morning and afternoon breaks are in Marengo Indiana. In the morning we ll see a barn mural, pass metal sculptures of paddlefish, see a house with skillets hanging on the wall, drive through 2 one lane tunnels and cross an iron bridge. While in French Lick and West Baden Springs be sure to visit the West Baden Spring Hotel. This was built in 1901 and was the largest dome structure in the US until This is a grand place that words can t describe. An original rail trolley has been restored that runs between the West Baden Springs Hotel and the French Lick Resort. There is no charge to ride the trolley. We have 2 more Model T era iron truss bridges to cross this afternoon. Stay safe and enjoy the ride. 0.0 From motel parking lot turn left onto Federal Place 0.3 At stop sign turn left onto Pacer Dr. 0.5 At stop sign go straight onto Hospital Dr. 0.5 At stop sign turn right onto SR Turn right onto Clover Valley Road

2 1.1 At stop sign go straight across Sival Road. Note: Look left for mural on side of barn. 0.4 At next intersection turn left onto Pinaire Lane 0.3 Turn right onto Glen Aire Road 1.0 At stop sign turn left onto Lost Creek Road 1.5 At stop sign turn left onto Tunnel Hill Road 0.4 At stop sign turn right onto SR Stay left on Milltown Fredericksburg Road where SR 337 goes to the right. Watch for traffic. 2.9 At stop sign turn left onto Main Street 0.8 Turn right at intersection just past Cave Country Canoes.. Restrooms are on the right if you need them. The 2 gas stations ahead only have 1 restroom each. 0.2 Turn left onto Church Street (just past "the BEST dern LAUNDRAMAT in MILLTOWN") and just before Maxine's Store.) This road changes name several times. Just stay on what looks like the main road. You'll pass Baylor Park on the right as you leave Milltown. 3.4 Turn right onto Depot Hill Road (look right for the old red harrow at this intersection on top of the hill and just past a pond on the right.)

3 2.2 At stop sign cross railroad tracks 0.2 At stop sign turn left onto Union Street (no sign) Turn immediately right onto Water Street (first street after the bridge) Turn left at the first street. Just past the monument place. Turn right at the next intersection onto Walnut Street. (No sign) Turn left onto Second Street ( look to your right as up go up the hill for the smiley face made of hubcaps and the Weather Rock ) At stop sign go straight across Elm Street. Crawford County Tractor Parts is just ahead on the right. At stop sign cross SR 64 to the Sunoco Gas Station (morning break) This will be the last place to get gas before French Lick. There are lots of hills ahead. There is also a Marathon Gas Station across the road. There is only 1 restroom at each of these gas stations. 0 Turn right onto SR 64 as you leave the Sunoco gas station. Left if you are leaving the Marathon. 0.2 At flashing light turn right onto Main Street At T intersection across bridge turn left onto Water Street (you will see a cave opening on your right as you get on Water Street At stop sign go straight across Valeene Road onto Bacon Road. There are several 1 lane bridges on this road. 2.4 At Y turn left onto Haendiges Road (this is a gravel road with no sign) You'll see the first mailbox on this road marked 3999 just before you turn. This is also the first road to the left. 1.5 At the T intersection turn right onto Bacon Ridge Road (no sign) 1.4 Stay straight through intersection. The road name changes to Phillips Road 1.4 At stop sign cross SR 37 onto Zoo Road (look for paddlefish sculptures on left and old spring house on the right)

4 1.1 Turn right onto Fargo Road (gravel) 1.1 Turn left onto 1050 S.. This will be the first road to the left. The sign is well hidden. 2.2 At stop sign turn right onto 350 W ( look for the skillet house) After you get on 350 W look for the spring just past the house with the bright blue "rain splitter" roof. 1.0 Cross Patoka Lake bridge 3.6 Turn left onto 640 S / South Liberty Church Road 3.3 At stop sign go straight across SR 145 onto Baseline Road 2.4 At stop sign turn right onto 1025 W 1.1 Turn left onto 525 S just past the bridge 1.8 At stop sign turn right onto 1000 W This stop sign is at the top of a hill. 1.7 Go through underpass and turn left 0.7 At intersection make a hard right onto 200 S 1.7 Go through underpass and turn left onto Old SR Turn right onto 100 S and cross old iron bridge 3 ton limit At stop sign turn left on the SR At traffic light. Welcome to French Lick. 0 We will be leaving town on Beechwood Avenue (On the north side of the Dairy Queen) This is on SR 56 between the Railroad museum and

5 West Baden Springs Hotel Be sure to get gas before you leave town. There are more low pedal hills ahead. 1.2 At Y stay right 1.4 Stay straight where 650 W turns right 1.7 At stop sign continue straight on 100 S At Y stay right. Turn left on to 490W Turn left on to 200S At stop sign turn right on to 400W At stop sign turn left onto 310S At yield sign stay left onto 325W This is a fairly busy country road. 1.2 Turn right on Logcreek Road 1.1 At stop sign turn right on 225 W 0.4 At Y stay left on 360 S 2.3 At stop sign at the bottom of the hill go straight on 175 W 3 Turn left on 775 S just past the bridge over the Patoka River (gravel with a small creek crossing) 2.1 At stop sign turn left onto SR 37 Turn right onto 850 S Owl Hollow Road (you'll see an iron bridge ahead 5 Ton Limit crossing the Patoka River, gravel road)

6 1.2 At Y stay right on 790 S 0.9 Stay straight where 175 E goes right. 0.9 At stop sign continue straight on 750 S / Owl Hollow Road At stop sign turn right onto Valeene Road 0.8 At T intersection follow Valeene Road to the right 6.2 At stop sign turn left onto Water Street Take first road to the right and cross bridge At flashing light turn left onto SR 64 0 Marathon on the right for gas and restrooms. Beagles Ice Cream is located behind the Marathon. Turn right onto SR 64 when leaving the Marathon 0.5 Turn left onto Baylor Road (no sign, just before bridge and past Marengo Cave Entrance) Look for the Taylor Insurance sign. 1.0 Turn right on the next road past Starr View Farm (no sign) 0.8 Road turns to gravel. 0.3 Turn right on first gravel road (no sign) Crecelius Road 1.2 At stop sign turn left onto Liberty View Road 2 At stop sign turn left onto SR Turn right onto Totten Ford Road (1st road to the right) Cross Totton Ford Bridge over Blue River 2.0 At stop sign turn right onto Fredricksburg Road (No sign)

7 1.8 Turn left onto Mt Tabor Road 0.8 Turn left to stay on Mt Tabor Road 1.5 Stay straight where Birdtrail Road goes right 1.4 At stop sign turn right onto Corydon Ramsey Road 1.6 At T turn right on the Big John Road. At stop sign go straight across SR 64 onto Clover Valley Road 1.4 At stop sign go straight across Lost Creek Road.5 Go straight onto Davis Mill Road where Clover Valley turns to the right. 1.2 At stop sign turn left onto Sival Road..2 Turn right right onto Davis Mill Road where Sival Road continues straight. 1.6 At stop sign turn left onto Hwy 337 S. 2.1 Turn left onto Hospital Road (first left after crossing I64).4 At stop sign go straight onto Pacer Court Road.5 At stop sign turn right onto Federal Drive.4 Turn right into motel parking lot.
