2 Description of AxtraxNG Software Components AxtraxNG Client is the user interface where all configuration information and changes are made. AxtraxNG Server runs in the background and provides the interface between the SQL Server, the panels and AxtraxNG client. It runs as a service and is started automatically when the system is started. Axtraxng Watchdog runs in the system tray, it provides a means of monitoring the AxtraxNG Server Service and displays ongoing status information. It starts automatically at system startup. There are a number of other third party components which will also be installed; Crystal Reports runtime for generating reports, Dahua Merge driver is a driver for integration with Dahua based security cameras, CP210X driver for the Rosslare UHF card programmer, HASP device driver for the Aladdin HASP security key used for some software options.

3 Installation of AxtraxNG as an Upgrade AxtraxNG 26.xx may be installed directly over AxtraxNG version or as an upgrade. This means that you do not need to uninstall the existing software first and that the database will be automatically updated during the installation process. If you are upgrading from an older version please review the document on database management first. If you are upgrading from AxtraxNG version 22.6 or 22.8 (database version V12) contact technical support to update the database first. There are technical issues which will prevent the upgrade from completing which may result in the loss of the database! If you are installing as an upgrade over AxtraxNG 23.x or 24.x; 1. Open the existing AxtraxNG client and perform a backup, go to tools, database and select backup now. 2. Browse to a location other than the default to insure the backup is not overwritten or deleted during the installation process, the desktop is a safe location. 3. Run the AxtraxNG installer as described in this document, it will import the database automatically. 4. When the installation is complete, reboot, open the client and update the firmware on all panels.

4 Network Requirements The AxtraxNG Server PC must be located on the same physical LAN and on the same LAN segment (same subnet) as the AC-825 panel(s) being managed. Remote management of panels via the internet, over VPN or any other WAN type connections is not supported at this time. Use of VLANS to segregate traffic is not supported. (Remote Client is now supported, contact technical support for details) The AxtraxNG server software will utilize broadcast messages (ARP) and UDP traffic to configure the panel IP address. If either of these is blocked on the network the panel configuration will fail. The AC-825IP network configuration may have to be reapplied from time to time therefore unlike the legacy panels (AC- 225, etc.) configuring the panel offline with a crossover cable connected directly from the PC to the panel will not suffice. Broadcast and UDP traffic must be allowed between the server PC and the panel(s). The IP address of the AxtraxNG server PC must be static as well as the IP address of the panel(s). A range of addresses should be reserved in the router so the DHCP server will not try to allocate an address to another device that has been used on the AxtraxNG server or any of the panels. The Firewall must be configured per the post installation instructions, these instructions apply to Windows 7 and 8 firewall settings only, third party products such as McAfee or Symantec are not supported and not recommended for use on the machine running AxtraxNG Server. Disclaimer: Rosslare Technical support does not recommend disabling the firewall. Antivirus software may also cause issues, Avast is known for not being compatible with AxtraxNG. The Microsoft Security Essentials is the ONLY antivirus software we have tested with and will support, if any other antivirus software is installed it must be disabled if any problems are encountered and it is up to the customer to resolve these issues.

6 Begin the installation by extracting the installation package.zip file to a directory and browse to that directory or by browsing to the CDROM, SW, AXTRAXNG directory. Right click on the AxtraxNGSetup..EXE file and select Run As Administrator. Follow the instructions on the subsequent screens to complete the installation.

7 Navigate to the directory where the file was extracted. Right Click the AxtraxNGSetup.EXE and select Run as Administrator.

8 Right click on the AxtraxNGSetup..EXE file and select Run As Administrator. On the following screen select the option to be installed. At a minimum the AxtraxNG Client and AxtraxNG Server must be installed to setup the system, this will also install AxtraxNG Watchdog. AxtraxNG Client only may be selected when installing the client on a second machine such as a security kiosk. The Vitrax and LPR options install a camera server package which is described in a separate document. These options require an additional license purchase to use. Once you select START the installation will begin, follow through selecting the default as shown in the following slides, do not change any file locations or other data, click NEXT, INSTALL or FINISH on each screen to advance the installer.

9 Check the box I Agree. Select Server with Watchdog and Client. Click Start.

11 This is a driver for DVRs manufactured by Dahua. Click NEXT to install.

12 Check the button for Everyone. Click NEXT to install.

13 Click NEXT to install.

14 Click Close to continue.

15 This is a driver for the UHF card programmer. Click NEXT to install.

16 Check I accept Click NEXT to install.

17 Click Finish to continue.

18 This is the AxtraxNG Client. Click NEXT to install.

19 Do Not change the location. Click NEXT to install.

21 SQL Server Installation Depending on the installation type SQL Server may or may not need to be installed. UPGRADE - If AxtraxNG is being installed as an upgrade over AxtraxNG version 23.X or later you will not be prompted to install SQL Server, the installer will attach to the existing database and do the import. NEW INSTALL NO SQL if the machine has no existing version of SQL Server installed you will get the screen shown on SQL 1. Simply leave Install as Default selected and click next. UPGRADE FROM OLDER AXTRAX If you are upgrading from an older version of AxtraxNG or Axtrax AS525 you may use the existing installation of SQL Server 2005 as shown in SQL 2 by selecting Cancel SQL-Server installation,. If this option is chosen the installer will jump to the AxtraxNG Server installation. NEW INSTALL WITH EXISTING SQL if there is already an instance of SQL server installed that must be kept select Install New Instance of SQL as shown in SQL 3. This will do a complete install of a new dedicated instance of SQL Server 2012 without disturbing the existing SQL Server installation. You may mix SQL Server 2008 and 2012 on the same machine.

22 SQL 1 Leave the option Install as Default as shown. This will install SQL Server 2012 in it s default configuration with no further user intervention. Click OK to continue.

23 SQL 2 If there is an existing instance of SQL 2005, 2008 or 2012 from a previous installation of Axtrax or AxtraxNG, select Cancel SQL-Server installation, continue AxtraxNG Server installation. Click OK to continue.

24 SQL 3 If there is an existing instance of SQL 2005, 2008 or 2012 from another application select Install a new Instance as shown Fill in the data as shown, in this example I have included the default settings used by AxtraxNG. The vertical bar in the password is the shifted \ key. Click OK to continue.

25 If you select Install a new Instance the SQL 2012 installer will run. Check the I accept box. Click Next to continue.

26 DO NOT change anything on this screen. Click Next to continue.

31 Click Next to continue.

32 Click Close to continue. If errors are encountered at this point contact technical support.

33 This is the AxtraxNG Server Click NEXT to install.

34 This is the AxtraxNG Server. DO NOT change the location. Click NEXT to install.

36 Click NEXT to install.

37 This is the AxtraxNG Watchdog. DO NOT change the location. Click NEXT to install.

39 This is the driver for the HASP security key. It is only required on systems over 60 panels, with Axtime or some video integration. Click Next to continue.

40 Click I accept. Click Install to continue.

42 Select OK to close the window then select Close on the main installation window. Before restarting the PC complete the next step to change the folder permissions.

43 The permissions on the Rosslare Program Files directories must be changed to allow changes to be made by the Axtraxconfig Tool utility. 1. Navigate to the C:\Program Files (x86)\rosslare directory. 2. Right click and select Properties.

44 Select the security tab at the top. Select Edit.

45 Select Users, the name in the parenthesis will be different. Check the box to Allow Full control. Click Apply then OK to close the window. Click OK to close the previous window also.

46 The PC must now be restarted to complete the installation, go to the Windows menu and select Restart, DO NOT use the power switch as this may or may not restart the operating system. After the restart, the AxtraxNG Watchdog will open automatically. Initially it will indicate Server offline this is normal on start up. It will take approximately 2 minutes for the system to initialize, the status should change to the one shown Server run as service. See the Post Installation section to see if additional steps are required to complete your installation.

47 Post Installation There are additional steps which may be required after the installation finishes. Open the firewall for bidirectional traffic, this is REQUIRED when; Using and AC-825IP panel. Connecting a remote client to the server. It may be skipped for use with legacy panels and stand alone servers.

48 Open Control Panel and select Windows Firewall, (switch to large icon view if this option is not available). Select Allow an app or feature. (on Windows 7 this is Allow a Program or Feature. )

49 If Axtrax Server is not listed as shown, Select Change Settings then Allow another app. If Axtrax Server is shown skip to step 5.

50 If AxtraxNG Server does not show up in the list select Browse

51 When the browse window opens, navigate to the following directory; C:\Program Files (x86)\rosslare\axtraxng Server. Select AxtraxServerService.exe then select Open

52 With AxtraxServerService highlighted select Add.

53 Insure that the check box in the column labeled Private is checked for AxtraxServer Service then select OK.

54 Select Advanced Settings

55 Select Inbound Rules

56 Select the first rule named AxtraxServerService

57 Select Programs and Services Select All programs that meet the specified conditions then select OK Select OK to close window after closing the windows shown to the right.

58 Select any additional rules named AxtraxServerService and repeat the steps in the last screen for each.

59 Post Installation This completes the installation of AxtraxNG, If you have not already restarted the machine do so now, allow 2 minutes for the SQL database to initialize.
