MOTION # XVI M , Sustainability Institute at UNH (UNHSI) formally reorganized 2013, NH Social Venture Innovation Challenge launches, in partnership with Paul College of Business & Economics; the Carsey School of Public Policy; NH EPSCoR; Net Impact UNH 2013, UNH established a School of Marine Science and Ocean Engineering. MOTION # XVII M9, MOTION # XVII M , Carsey School of Public Policy is formed with founding director Michael Ettlinger. MOTION # XVIII M11 The UNH Emeriti Council Student International Service Initiative Fund intended provide funding to augment students own fundraising activities. 2 2. A LEARNING CENTERED ENVIRONMENT FOR THE 21ST CENTURY Grant funding via New Ventures Fund: 1. Promote Wonder and Innovation in Learning to groups of faculty within/across departments and/or Colleges for large scale and comprehensive curriculum redesign and reform. 2. Address requirements and goals of the Discovery Program. Discovery Program is fully enrolled. Workshops in inquiry based pedagogy have been established for teaching assistants. CLA will continue to be piloted through 2015, which will capture a full, four year cohort. J term has been established, assessed, and expanded. Motion XVI M7, Motion XVI M6 Cooperative Extension launched interactive web apps for plant pest control options (e GRO Disease Advisor and e GRO Insect and Mite Advisor Distance and hybrid learning opportunities have been established, assessed, and expanded. UNH now has five online graduate programs. RESEARCH, SCHOLARSHIP, AND CREATIVE ACTIVITY Writers Academy: 2013 present Institute on Health Policy and Practice which doubled research expenditures from 2010 to 2014 from $1.8M to $3.6M Institute on Disability increased research expenditures by 28% from $7.4M to $10.2M from 2010 to UNHM STEM Discovery Lab UNHM Manchester Undergraduate Project Support (MUPS) Grants MUPS is a competitive grant program intended to provide modest institutional support to assist in undergraduate research activities. Cooperative Extension works collaboratively with NH Agricultural Experiment Station and the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture to establish research priorities, conduct practical research, and translate information into applied practices that enhance farm profits and protect natural resources. UNHCE and COLSA NH Lakes Lay Monitoring Program wins 2014 Engagement Scholarship/W.K. Kellogg Foundation Engagement Award and is a finalist for the 2014 APLU Magrath Community Engagement Award lab lab grants Recent research and outreach include hydroponic production of greens to meet demand for local produce in winter, solutions to problems affecting bee health, and energy efficient heating and cooling systems for greenhouses. m Page 5

6 4. LEVERAGING UNH'S INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL The Green Launching Pad (GLP) is a public and private sector initiative that enables local start ups to bring green solutions to market. In 2014, $500K grant received for the Head Health Challenge to evaluate the effectiveness of a helmet less tackling training system called the HuTTT Technique funded by the NFL, GE and Under Armour UNHInnovation, including Alpha Loft and UNH Catalyst Seminar Series UNH Cooperative Extension, the Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Engagement and Academic Outreach and UNH Manchester, sponsored the Economic Development Academy a seven session course that connected 25 community and economic development leaders with UNH faculty practice university of new hampshire/ Development/Economic Development Academy Through Integrated Pest Management efforts to combat the invasive insect Spotted Wing Drosophila, Cooperative Extension saved growers more than $1 million in the NH berry crop, in just one season. PARTNER FOR LIFE: EXPANDING AND DEEPENING UNH'S STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS STEM Ambassadors Program A working collaboration between UNH Manchester and Comcast, STEM Connect Program New Hampshire Listens, UNH's statewide Social Venture Innovation Challenge (2013 current) NH Businesses for Social Responsibility offers free membership to UNH students who are members of Net Impact UNH 2,000 New Hampshire businesses worked directly with Cooperative Extension staff in dozens of industries ranging from fishing to high technology. In partnership with the NH Division of Forest and Lands, NH Fish and Game, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and US Forest Service, UNHCE held 59 professional development workshops in 2014 for NH foresters and loggers.
