1 Play, pause and record Your View box can pause, rewind and record live TV, so you never have to miss another minute of your favourite programmes. Live Pause While watching live TV press the button to pause the currently airing programme. Press the button again to resume playback. Press the TV. button at any time to return to live Rewind and Fast Forward Press the button to Rewind a programme. After rewinding or pausing a programme, press to Fast Forward. Record a programme Press to record live TV at the touch of a button. Highlight future programmes in the Guide and press to plan a recording. A red light on the front of the View box indicates that a recording is taking place. Play recorded programmes To open a library of your recorded programmes for playback, press. Select a recording with the navigation buttons and press to play. You can set your View box to rewind live TV up to 0 minutes, for as long as you have been watching or recording a channel. The default setting for live rewind is 30 minutes. See page 37 of the User Guide to find out more about changing your live TV rewind settings.

2 Online apps Online apps connect you to internet services like BBC iplayer, YouTube, Twitter and Flickr. BBC iplayer YouTube BBC iplayer iplayer is the catch up service from the BBC. Here you can find BBC programmes to watch on demand. YouTube Choose from a massive collection of content to watch videos and catch up TV on YouTube. BBC iplayer Flickr YouTube Twitter Social networks Flickr Twitter Stay connected to your friends and photos with built in Twitter and Flickr connectivity. You can sign into your existing account to access more personal content. Your View box needs to be connected to a broadband router, using either WiFi or an Ethernet cable, to access online apps. 5 Getting set up Congratulations on purchasing your new View box. You can now watch Freeview TV, including HD channels, with the ability to pause, rewind and record live TV. This Quick Start Guide will get you up and running so you can sit back and discover the smart features of your View box including BBC iplayer, YouTube, Twitter and more... What s in the box (included) Quick Start Guide User Guide View box Power supply HDMI cable Aerial cable Remote control x AAA batteries You may need (not included) Broadband connected router & Ethernet cable To access online apps like YouTube and BBC iplayer, your View box must be connected to a broadband router, either via WiFi or with an Ethernet cable. Router Ethernet cable Freeview+HD does not require an internet connection. Freeview+HD Watch and record TV in stunning high definition with Freeview+HD. High definition broadcasts offer improved clarity, sharpness and picture quality compared to standard definition broadcasts when played through an HD Ready TV. To check that you can receive Freeview HD in your area to text your postcode, followed by your house number or name to e.g. NW9 6NY (Costs no more than a normal text). Visit freeview.co.uk for more information. High definition (HD) TV To watch programmes in high definition (HD), you will need an HD Ready TV connected to your View box with the supplied HDMI cable. You will also need to be in a Freeview HD coverage area. Without the HDMI cable programmes will only show in standard definition. 6 0 Connect to your TV If your TV doesn t have an HDMI connection, see page 0 of the User Guide. 3 Connect the aerial cable between the RF IN socket on your View box and your external aerial socket. 3 Connect the power supply to the DC IN connection on the back of your View box and connect the other end to a power socket. Connect the HDMI cable between the HDMI socket on the back of your View box and an HDMI socket on your HD Ready TV. 0 Connect to the internet Your View box must be connected to a broadband router, either via WiFi or with an Ethernet cable (not included) to access online services like BBC iplayer and YouTube. If you are not ready to complete this stage of the setup at this time, you can skip this step and continue with setting up your View box. To connect to the internet via WiFi, see step 4. To connect to the internet using an Ethernet cable: If you are unable to connect the View box to your router with WiFi or an Ethernet cable, alternative methods are available such as Home Plugs/Powerline or a WiFi Dongle (coming soon). Visit view.com/support for more information. Connect an Ethernet cable (not included) to the NETWORK connection on your View box. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to a free Ethernet socket on the back of your router.

7 03 Your remote Power button Switch the View box to standby. Back button Return to previous menu. Slide open the battery compartment on the base of the remote control as illustrated. Insert x AAA batteries (included) into the remote control and slide the battery compartment closed. Programme Guide Brings up the Guide. Library Brings up the library with all your recorded programmes. Menu Navigation and Fast Forward & Rewind Quickly navigate left and right across the Quick Access Bar. Also Fast Forward or Rewind live TV. 04 Install Navigation buttons Allows you to move around the Guide and on screen menus. Use OK to select. Record button Press to record programmes or set future recordings. To start the installation process, select Easy using the navigation buttons on the remote control and press to continue. Easy installation will automatically detect and install based on your TV. Just follow the on screen prompts. You can now connect to the internet via WiFi if required. See page of the User Guide. 8 Programme guide The Guide screen provides access to a programme schedule, catch up TV, recording options and smart services. Press the button to open the Guide. Quick Access Bar Library YouTube Twitter BBC iplayer The Quick Access Bar can be used to quickly switch between features. Use the navigation buttons or buttons on the remote control to quickly move between sections. Schedule The seven day programme schedule can be used to change channels. Here you can find detailed descriptions and plan future programme recordings. Tip: Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the different Guide viewing options. Tip: Press the button to view detailed programme information while in the Guide. This also works when viewing live TV.
