3 Background and Rationale In 2008 Fairlie Primary School was part of an application for ICT PD funding through the MOE. Along with 10 other schools the ARC (Aoraki Rural Cluster) application was successful. Pleasant Point Primary School is the administrator school. The main objective of the cluster being to improve the quality of teaching and learning through the use of ICT.e -Time Ltd are the cluster facilitators. Fairlie Primary School has 6 classroom teachers and the Principal participating in the development.andrea Fryer is the lead teacher. Another significant challenge for the school is that there is building replacement happening over 2009/2010.This will see the building of a new library and administration block. Decisions made around these improvements also incorporate upgrading the IT capability of these new buildings. Major work is required to bring the school up to MOE standards In February 2009 an IT audit was undertaken by e-time, our cluster facilitators identified a number of aspects/ recommendations that have been incorporated into our vision/strategic plan. In August 2009 New Era visited the school to discuss the vision with the intentions of compiling costings for IT hardware saw the upgrade of the Administration block and the building of a new Library. At the same time two interactive whiteboards have been installed, one in Room 5 and the other in the Library. Projectors have been installed in all the classrooms. 3
