2 Managing network protection Setup remote management of computer security in the network Remote management is configured using Management Console Configuration Wizard. This wizard consists of a series of screens (or steps) navigated using the Back and the Next buttons. To close the wizard once it has completed its work, use the Finish button. To stop the wizard at any stage, use the Cancel button. You can also switch between the wizard's steps that you have completed, by using the browsing buttons in the top part of the window. In order to configure remote management settings, perform the following actions: 1. Open the main application window and select the Management Center tab. 2. In the right part of the window select Management Console Configuration Wizard. Let s view the wizard s steps. STEP 1. Password protection This window is the first step of the Management Console Configuration Wizard. At the first startup of Management Center, a password for remote management of the computer should be specified in this window. 1 5

3 At the next startup of Management Center, after you have entered the password, you can change the current password in this window using the Change administrator password link. For remote management via local network, the Management Center password should be identical on all computers! 2 5

4 STEP 2. Search for computers This window is designed for searching for the networked computers which are available for remote management. This window is the second step of the Management Console Configuration Wizard. In the drop-down list, in the Network section, select a network subject to remote control. To display the computer in the Management Center on each computer, the status "Trusted network" or "Local network" should be installed in the Firewall settings for your home network. Otherwise, the computer will not be found when scanning the network. To check the Firewall settings on the current computer, click the Configure firewall for this computer link. The first search for computers in the network is launched automatically. You can pause or start the search manually using the corresponding links. 3 5

5 Computers detected on the network are displayed in a table with their respective statuses specified. Below are the possible statuses of the computers: Manageable. KSOS 2 is installed on the computer. Identical passwords have been specified. Remote management is available. Kaspersky Small Office Security is not installed. KSOS 2 was not found on the computer. Remote management is prohibited. The option to manage KSOS 2 services remotely has been disabled on the computer. Buttons at the top of the table allow to manually add a computer, delete a computer from the list or clear the list. To hide the computers which are unavailable for remote management, check the Hide not controlled computers box. STEP 3. Update method This window is designed for selecting the update mode for anti-virus databases on the manageable computers. This window is the third step of the Management Console Configuration Wizard. 4 5

6 Below are the available database update modes: Select one computer as update source for other computers (recommended). Updates will be downloaded to a dedicated update server of the home network, and from it to other computers. One of the networked computers with KSOS 2 installed on it can be used as an update server. Select an update server from the dropdown list. Allow each computer in my network to update its own database from the Internet. Centralized update via a dedicated update server. Updates will be downloaded from the Kaspersky Lab's update server on each computer independently. STEP 4. Summary This window is designed for viewing summary information about the current Management Center settings. Click the Finish button to close the Wizard. The main window of Management Center will open. 5 5
