1 DRC INSIGHT Test Engine ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 Field Test

2 DRC INSIGHT DRC INSIGHT is a web-based, online interface used with a combination of software and hardware to provide a secure, online testing environment. INSIGHT is the software that students will use to take the ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 Field Test. For more information, see the Technology User Guide. (edirect: General Information Documents)

3 Install the TSM Before INSIGHT The INSIGHT software must be installed on each workstation involved with the ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 Field Test. Be sure that you have already installed the Testing Site Manager (TSM) software before proceeding to install INSIGHT. 1. Install TSM 2. Install INSIGHT You will need to specify the path to the TSM and the communication port during the INSIGHT installation.

4 Downloading INSIGHT All testing software downloads are located in edirect within the Test Setup menu under General Information. Select the Downloads tab to access these downloads.

5 Downloading INSIGHT On the Downloads tab, locate the INSIGHT Installer for your platform. We ll use Windows for our demonstration. View the requirements for the INSIGHT download by clicking the view requirements icon from the Action column.

6 Installing INSIGHT To begin the INSIGHT installation process, select the download icon from the Action column. When prompted to Run or Save the DRC INSIGHT Setup file, select Run to launch the Setup Wizard.

7 Installing INSIGHT The Welcome screen displays the DRC INSIGHT Setup Wizard. Click Next to continue. The DRC INSIGHT License Agreement window displays. Read the agreement, select I accept the terms in the License Agreement, and then click Next.

8 Installing INSIGHT The Automatic Update window displays. Specify whether to enable or disable automatic INSIGHT software updates. It is recommended that automatic updates be enabled. When automatic updates are enabled, each time INSIGHT is launched, you are provided the option to install any software updates.

9 Installing INSIGHT If Auto Update is not enabled, and the latest INSIGHT version is not present when a student logs in to test, the student cannot test. You would need to update the software manually by downloading the latest version from edirect and reinstalling. Enable automatic updates is recommended. Be sure to update your software before testing begins to avoid delays. Click Next to continue.

10 Installing INSIGHT The Configure Shortcuts window displays. Use this window to indicate which shortcuts the installation process should create. DRC recommends that you select both shortcuts. Click Next to continue.

11 Installing INSIGHT The Ready to Install window displays. Click Back to review or change your settings, Install to start the installation, or Cancel to cancel the process. A window will display to indicate the progress of the installation. Ready to Install Window Progress Window

12 Installing INSIGHT When the installation completes, the DRC INSIGHT Online Learning System Setup window displays. By default, Launch System Readiness Check is selected. Launching the readiness service at this point will allow you to complete the configuration of INSIGHT. You must launch the System Readiness Check and complete configuration prior to testing. The System Readiness Check also verifies that the testing computer meets technical specifications required for online testing. Click Finish to end the installation process.

13 Client Configuration Properties Window When launching the System Readiness Check during installation, the DRC INSIGHT Client Configuration Properties window will open. If you enabled auto updates during installation, the check box will be preselected. If you didn t enable auto updates during installation, but wish to do so now, select the checkbox.

14 Client Configuration Properties Window For the next several steps, you ll need the TSM server and port information provided during the TSM installation. If you specified Content Caching when installing the TSM, check Enable Content Caching. If you want to be able to perform load simulation testing, check Enable Load Simulation. Enter the server name or IP address and port number of the TSM server.

15 Client Configuration Properties Window If you specified response caching when installing the TSM, check Enable Response Caching TSM and enter the server name or IP address and port number of the TSM server. Select the state, district, and school for the testing computer from the dropdown menus. These fields are required. When done, click Save. This will return you to the System Readiness Check main menu.

16 System Readiness Check System Readiness Check Click Details next to any test about which you need more information. Click Execute Tests to run the System Readiness Check. You can return to the INSIGHT configuration properties window by clicking the DRC INSIGHT Properties button. To close the System Readiness Check service, click Exit.

17 Accessing INSIGHT If during installation you chose to install a shortcut, INSIGHT can be accessed via the desktop shortcut shown below. Desktop Shortcut Start > Programs > WD Online Assessment System INSIGHT can also be accessed through Start > Programs > WD Online Assessment System. The ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 FT Online Assessments link launches the field test delivery application. The Readiness link opens the System Readiness Check.

18 Logging Off edirect If your INSIGHT download session in edirect is still active, remember to log off.
