1 1.1 GLOBALG.A.P. qualification criteria in the US These requirements are applicable for IFA version 4, PSS version 4 and for PFA version Fruit and Vegetable internal producer group inspector GLOBALG.A.P. IFA V4 REQUIREMENTS 2.1 FMAL QUALIFICATIONS FMAL QUALIFICATIONS i. A post high school diploma in a discipline related to the scope of certification (Crops) An agricultural high school qualification with 2 years experience in the relevant sub-scope after qualification. A high school qualification with active participation in an Agricultural education club (like FFA or 4-H) or other educational program centered around Agricultural practices relevant to the appropriate scope of certification and with 2 years experience in the relevant sub-scope. 3 years industry experience and participation in educational opportunities relevant to their scope of certification. Industry experience comprise: Orchard Management (including owner operators) in the relevant subscope Experience as a commercial consultant in the relevant sub-scope Commercial consulting experience in the relevant sub-scope including but not limited to: GAP s. IPM, food safety Warehouse / field and food safety experience relevant to sub-scope Educational opportunities comprise: Private Applicator license continuing education credits Commercial Consultant license continuing education credits Good Agricultural Practices workshops and seminars General food safety workshops Fertilizer and IPM educational opportunities 2.2 TECHNICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS TECHNICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Page: 1 of 7

2 Inspector Training i One-day practical inspection course setting out basic principles of inspection ii Two witness inspections (accompanying an audit, could be GLOBALG.A.P. or other) 2 shadow audits by the CB i Food Safety and G.A.P. Training Training in HACCP principles either as part of formal qualifications By the successful completion of a formal course based on the principles of Codex Alimentarius or training in ISO ii Food hygiene training either as part of formal qualifications By the successful completion of a formal course iii Plant protection, fertilizer and IPM training either as part of Examples may be but are not limited to: Private Applicator licenses, Pesticide formal qualifications Handler Cards, Commercial Consultant Licenses, confirming that all of these require IPM training as well. By the successful completion of a formal course. 2.3 COMMUNICATION SKILLS COMMUNICATION SKILLS 2.3.a Working language skills in the corresponding native/working language. This must include the locally used specialist terminology in this working language. Ability to communicate in the generally accepted working language of the producers in the country that you are performing inspections. This must include the locally used specialist terminology in this working language. Note: The Fruit and Vegetable internal producer group Auditor requirements are not changed. Page: 2 of 7

3 1.1.2 Certification Body Fruit and Vegetable Inspector These requirements are applicable for IFA version 4, PSS version 4 and for PFA version 1. GLOBALG.A.P. IFA V4 REQUIREMENTS 2 FMAL QUALIFICATIONS FMAL QUALIFICATIONS 2.a At least a post high school diploma (min. course duration of 2 years), must have been obtained in a discipline related to the scope of certification (Crops). At least a post-high school diploma or equivalent (minimum course duration of 2 years) must have been obtained in a discipline related to the scope of certification (Crops). A post high school diploma with a minimum duration of 2 years in a food related discipline A minimum of 4 years industry experience either in a practical capacity on farm/site or in a technical production management role in the relevant scope of certification (Crops and/or Livestock and/or Aquaculture). The 4 years shall involve work in the respective scope of Primary production and may have been gained simultaneously for more than one scope and/or sub-scope/group according the said table. 3 TECHNICAL SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS TECHNICAL SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS 3.1.a Inspector Training One-day practical inspection course setting out basic principles of inspection. 3.2.a Food Safety, G.A.P. 4 By the successful completion of a formal course for the Integrated Farm Assurance Standard. 3.2.c GLOBALG.A.P. Online Training, with the successful completion of all online tests and its updates within 3 months after its release on the inspector s language. 3.2.d Plant protection, fertilizer and IPM training either as part of formal qualifications By the successful completion of a formal course. 3.2.g A minimum of 2 years experience gained after finishing post high school diploma studies mentioned in point 2.a. And 3 years overall experience in the agricultural industry. The 2 years shall involve work in the respective scope and may have been gained simultaneously for more than one scope and/or sub-scope/group according the said table. 3.3 COMMUNICATION SKILLS COMMUNICATION SKILLS A minimum of 2 years experience gained after finishing post high school diploma studies mentioned in point 2.a., and 3 years overall experience in the agricultural industry except when cl. 2.b. applies (where the post high school diploma is not in a discipline related to the scope of certification, in this case being 4 years experience). The 2 years shall involve work in the respective scope and may have been gained simultaneously for more than one scope and/or subscope/group according the said table. 3.3.a Working language skills in the corresponding native/working language. This must include the locally used specialist terminology in this working language. 3.4 INITIAL TRAINING BEFE SIGN-OFF BY THE CB INITIAL TRAINING BEFE SIGN-OFF BY THE CB 3.4.a The applicant auditor shall observe minimum one Option 1 producer or one Option 2 producer group member inspection. 3.4.b The CB shall witness (as the minimum) one inspection on an Option 1 producer or one Option 2 producer group member by and already qualified inspector or auditor 3.4.c For the CB s first auditor the CB s internal procedure apply. The 4 years shall involve work in the respective scope of Primary production and may have been gained simultaneously for more than one scope and/or sub-scope/group according the said table. 3 TECHNICAL SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS TECHNICAL SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS 3.1.a Lead Assessor Training Practical auditing experience of minimum 10 days in management systems (e.g.: ISO 9000, ISO 14000, ISO 22000, OSHAS 18000), BRC Food, IFS Food, previous GLOBALG.A.P. Option 2 or Option 4, producer group audits of organic growers or others). This does not include witnessing or observing of audits, but includes being witnessed or observed as auditor-in-training. 3.1.b Successful completion of a Lead Assessor training course based on ISO principles that must have a minimum duration of 37 hours, and must be externally recognized by the industry. The certificate must specify the course content and duration. Successful completion must be indicated on the Page: 5 of 7

6 certificate. 3.1.c. The Lead Assessor training course must cover: applicable standards on quality auditing, auditing techniques, focus of the audits (psychological aspects and communication) and reporting, and it must also include a practical case study. 3.2.a Food Safety, G.A.P. Training and Work Experience Training in HACCP principles either as part of formal qualification By the successful completion of a formal course based on the principles of Codex Alimentarius. 3.2.b Food hygiene training either as part of formal qualifications By the successful completion of a formal course for the Integrated Farm Assurance Standard. 3.2.d GLOBALG.A.P. 7 3.4 INITIAL TRAINING BEFE SIGN-OFF BY THE CB INITIAL TRAINING BEFE SIGN-OFF BY THE CB 3.4.a The applicant auditor shall observe minimum one Option 1 producer or one Option 2 producer group member inspection One Option 2 QMS audit (only CB auditors). 3.4.b A CB already qualified inspector or auditor shall witness (as the minimum) one inspection on an Option 1 producer or one Option 2 producer group member 1 QMS audit by an (only CB auditors). 3.4.c For the CB s first auditor the CB s internal procedure apply. 3.4.d The Option 2 auditor shall attend a GLOBALG.A.P. CB Option 2 Auditor Training and pass the exam for each new standard version. Page: 7 of 7
